Timing 24 hour wait, then 7 days
Cost to declare 1,000 gold per 10 guild members
Won by Leading in 2 of the 3 tallies
Wars at once Five per guild

A guild war is a seven day contest between two Knight Fight guilds, opened from the declaration of war entry in the guild menu. While it runs, every fight between the two rosters is logged for the war as well as for the knights in it, and the declaring guild pays before a blow is struck.

Declaring is an administrator's job, or that of any member given the guild wars right, which also covers calling a war off. The declaration does not start the war: twenty four hours pass first, and the countdown runs on the war report under the guild's current attack or defence wars. Every member of the target guild is messaged at once.

How a war is scored

Three separate tallies are kept from those fights between members of the two guilds: victories, hit points dealt, and gold captured. After seven days the guild ahead in two of the three has won. A guild can therefore lose the war while winning most of the fights, since hitting hard and robbing well are columns of their own. Wars won and lost show in the guild view and in the guild highscore.

What a guild needs before it can declare

Four conditions govern the declaration. The guild must have at least five members, and it must have existed for at least two weeks. A target can be attacked directly only if its membership is within seventy per cent either way of the attacker's; otherwise it has to agree to the war first. The declaration is then paid for at 1,000 gold for every ten guild members. Separately, no guild may hold more than five wars at the same time.

Three things end a war as a defeat before the seven days are up. Falling below five members forfeits every running war. So does losing more than a fifth of the members the guild held on the day war was declared. Capitulating is the third, and it counts as a loss like the others. A member who leaves or is removed cannot rejoin that same guild for seven days, which stops a roster being shuffled to dodge either threshold.

Fighting during a war

The fights are ordinary fights. The twelve hour limit on being attacked again by the same opponent is the one the source names as staying in place, and the sixty minute hour protection is not mentioned either way. Nothing changes but the settlement afterwards, where the result also feeds the war log.

Losing members while a war runs

A guild that drops below the five member minimum has every running war stopped and counted as a defeat. The same follows if more than twenty per cent of either guild's members leave or are removed mid-war, so a war can be lost in the membership list rather than in the fighting. A member who leaves during a war cannot rejoin that guild for a week.

A war can also be ended at any point by surrendering, which is recorded as a defeat for the guild that gives up.

Declaring on the same guild again

A seven day ban follows the end of a war. A war played to its full length costs one day before the start, seven days of war and seven days of ban, so the same guild can be attacked again every fifteen days. After a surrender the ban counts from the declaration rather than the war's start: surrender at once and the next declaration comes seven days on; surrender three days after declaring, the war having run for two, and it comes after ten.
