Knight Fight runs on two currencies that do very different jobs. Gold is earned by playing and pays for almost everything a knight does. Gems are bought with money, convert into gold at a fixed rate, and buy the few things gold cannot. A third name, MoonCoins, appears throughout the game and the portal around it, and is the same currency as gems seen from one step further out.

The distinction that matters in practice is not premium against free. It is that gold is abundant and slow while gems are scarce and instant, so gems are spent on time rather than on power.

Gold

Gold Gold is the currency a knight works for. A new account opens with 70 gold, which the beginner guide suggests spending on raising the five attributes to 6 while keeping about 15 back for a first fight.

It comes in from most of what the game offers: work and jobs at the tavern, time spent on missions, winning a fight, the referral link, the battlefield, and a bonus at every level of (new level - 1) x 10. Gems and MoonCoins convert into it as well, which is the one place the two currencies meet.

It goes out just as broadly. Training an attribute costs gold on a curve that climbs steeply, equipment is bought with it at the merchant and the bazaar, the altar sells health back at 1 gold for 10 points, a guild war costs 1,000 gold for every ten members to declare, and a guild castle is expanded with gold its members donate.

Gold is also the only thing an attacker takes. That is why players bunker it rather than sit on it, and why an account that repeatedly loses more than 100 gold a fight ends up on somebody's list of gold donkeys.

Gems

Gems Gems are the paid currency, called Edelsteine on the German original. They replaced an older system of premium tickets, where a payment bought a fixed block of premium time; gems buy the time instead, so the player chooses what to spend it on.

Four things gems do that gold cannot:

  • Convert to premium time, at 175 for ten days or 500 for thirty.
  • Convert to the tavern package at those same rates, which adds 30 per cent to the tavern wage.
  • Convert to gold, at a flat 2 gold per gem.
  • Accelerate a mission for 10.

Gems also buy equipment outright. Around a quarter of the catalogue is priced in gems rather than gold, and the soul stones and weapons that carry a gem price are generally the stronger item at the same requirement.

They are not purely a paid currency. A tavern job occasionally pays two or three, with no way to read the odds off the job text, and every 25th level pays a bonus of 10 times the level reached: 250 gems at level 25, 500 at level 50, and so on.

MoonCoins

MoonCoins MoonCoins are the same currency one step further out. Gems belong to Knight Fight; MoonCoins belong to **moonID**, the account portal the publisher runs across all of its games, so a MoonCoin bought once can be spent in any of them. Inside Knight Fight the two names are used interchangeably, and every gem price is a MoonCoin price.

The portal states that when something is bought in game, the in-game currency is spent first and MoonCoins cover only the remainder, so a balance is never wasted on a purchase gold could have made.

Two ways of getting MoonCoins do not involve paying. Recruiting a friend who registers on the portal pays 1 per cent of everything that friend later spends, and QualityMatch, added in 2021, pays MoonCoins for successful submissions. That second route replaced the promotional videos the game used previously.

The publisher is **CRATR.games GmbH**, which traded as RedMoon Studios when the game launched in 2006. The game is at moonid.net, with English-language servers at knightfight.co.uk, and the portal itself at moonid.net.
