Not everything in the Ashlands is trying to kill you. The Ashlands Dvergr are short, blue-skinned, red-bearded engineers who hold their charred towers against the burning creatures outside. They will walk straight past a player who keeps their hands to themselves. Provoke one, though, and you find out that the Arbalest bolt they carry lands one of the heaviest single hits anything in Valheim can deal.
Behaviour
Left undisturbed, they act more like neighbours than monsters. They patrol their towers, tend their lanterns and open fire on Charred Warriors and every other hostile Ashlands creature on sight. If you stay out of it, you can stand back and let a Dvergr camp do the fighting for you. That truce breaks instantly and for good the moment you shoot one, clip one with a stray arrow meant for something else, or destroy a structure inside the radius of a Dvergr ward. The whole settlement turns on you at once, and nothing will calm them down again. In a fight they brace by lifting one leg and fire the crossbow from as far as fifteen metres, dealing enormous pierce damage on a six second cycle, and their aim is very good. Close the gap and they fall back on swinging the crossbow as a club for blunt damage every four seconds, which is a far smaller problem. They do not retreat or scatter, and three of them firing from separate towers is how most players die to them.
Where to Find It
They live only in the Ashlands. They gather on Dvergr held ground, above all around the Dvergr Charred Tower Ruins, where their crates, wards and lanterns cluster, but they also spawn and respawn out in the open across the rest of the biome. Expect them anywhere from the blackened coast to the inland lava fields, at any hour, since nothing about them is tied to day or night. They are much tougher than their Mistlands cousins, the Dvergr Rogues. Their one and two star variants carry double and triple the health, with bolt damage scaled to match. Nothing gates them beyond reaching the biome, which in practice means a ship that survives the crossing and armour that survives the landing.
Strengths and Weaknesses
They take every damage type at full value and none at extra, so the only real question is whether to fight them at all. Left alive, they are a free garrison that thins out the Ashlands wildlife for you, and plenty of players never break the truce. If you want their Black Marble, treat them as snipers rather than brawlers. The bolt reaches fifteen metres, so either stay well outside that range and shoot back, or rush all the way inside it, where their crossbow bash does a fraction of the damage. Terrain that breaks line of sight is worth more than any shield. A single unstarred bolt of 210 pierce kills outright through anything short of endgame armour, and a two star bolt kills through that as well. Never pull a whole tower at once: peel one away with a shot and retreat behind rock. Mistlands gear is the absolute minimum, and Ashlands tier armour with real pierce resistance turns the fight from a coin flip into a plan.
- It ignores Spirit, Chop and Pickaxe.
Drops
Black Marble is the main reason to break the truce, with Coins and Soft Tissue as the reliable filler.

Level Variants
A creature can spawn at one of three levels, shown as stars beside its name. Each level is rolled separately when it spawns, so a two-star is rarer than a one-star. You can also see the difference: a starred Ashlands Dvergr is recoloured or larger, so you know what is coming.
