Staff of Fracturing is the first staff the Ashlands give up. It is a Galdr Table stopgap for the caster who has just come ashore with nothing but Charred Bone and powder scraped off Lava Blobs. It deals 12 blunt and 12 fire. At 24 total damage it ranks 5th among magic staves, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Blunt and fire damage hurts Lava Blobs, Abominations and Bats more than most things, which is what you carry it for.
How to Craft
Made at a level 2 galdr table, from:
- 15x Charred Bone: Dropped by the charred in the Ashlands.
- 5x Ashwood: Chopped from scorched trees in the Ashlands.
- 8x Proustite Powder: Dropped by lava blobs and mined from unstable lava rock in the Ashlands.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charred Bone | Ashlands | - | spawn CharredBone
| |
| Ashwood | Ashlands | - | spawn Blackwood
| |
| Proustite Powder | Ashlands | - | spawn ProustitePowder
|
When to Use It
Late game. Charred Bone, Ashwood and Proustite Powder all come from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.
Upgrades
It can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Fire | Blunt | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Galdr table (Level 2) | 12 | 12 | 200 |
|
| 2 | Galdr table (Level 3) | 18 | 12 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Galdr table (Level 4) | 24 | 12 | 300 |
|
| 4 | Galdr table (Level 5) | 30 | 12 | 350 |

Properties
Think of it as a Staff of Embers split 12 ways. Instead of one fireball it throws 12 small projectiles that explode on impact. Each piece deals blunt damage with a little knockback, plus fire that can set the target alight.
It still works when you miss. Projectiles that hit terrain scatter and explode a moment later, so a shot at the ground in front of a pack is a legitimate way to use it, not a wasted cast.
Damage and cost both scale with Elemental Magic. The figures in the table are the floor: the skill raises the damage and lowers the cost, so the same staff is a different weapon at skill 80.
Notes
- Eitr regenerates one second after you stop spending it, at 2 a second on a full bar rising to 4 on an empty one.
- Swimming stops eitr regeneration entirely. Blocking cuts it to 0.8x, Rested adds 100% and resting adds 300%.
- Blood magic's cost is a percentage of current health rather than maximum, so it can never reduce you to zero.
- Upgrading does not raise blunt, which is 12 at quality 1 and still 12 at quality 4. Upgrades raise only fire, from 12 to 30.
