The Sunstone is a main quest inside Battle Preparations. It starts when the ship reaches Skellige. Eredin travels between worlds on the Naglfar. To pull him back and cut off his escape, the mages need a legendary elven artifact called the Sunstone. The druid Ermion points Geralt to people who know the old elven ruins. Philippa Eilhart then helps Geralt find the stone in an ancient crypt.
The Sunstone Map Location and Quest Guide
The Sunstone map location:
- If Cerys or Hjalmar rules Skellige, ask Crach at Kaer Trolde Harbor where Ermion is.
- Find Ermion arguing with Madman Lugos, then kill Lugos and his men.
- Follow the road down the mountain and talk to Ermion.
- If Svanrige is king, go to the hall at Kaer Trolde and fight when the meeting turns violent.
- Talk to Ermion about the Sunstone.
- Talk to the skald Eyvind as he watches for a white whale.
- Or dive to the pearl divers' underwater cave near Eldberg and kill the drowners there.
- Return to Yennefer at Kaer Trolde Harbor.
- Travel to the Ancient Crypt on the north coast of Ard Skellig and meet Philippa at the entrance.
- Kill the siren and the drowners inside.
- Follow Philippa deeper in and kill the golem.
- In the mirror room, turn each mirror so the beam of light points to Philippa, and fight off the ghosts.
- Talk to Philippa and take the Sunstone.

Choices
The start depends on who rules Skellige after King's Gambit. With Cerys or Hjalmar on the throne, Ermion has gone to Madman Lugos, and the visit ends in a fight. With Svanrige as king, Ermion is at Kaer Trolde. A meeting there turns into a battle.
Ermion names two leads, the skald Eyvind and a band of pearl divers. Eyvind refuses to help if Geralt's reason sounds like a threat to the elven ruins. The pearl divers then become the only lead.
