Grandmaster Griffin Steel Sword is the best steel sword for sign intensity. It is the Grandmaster variant of the Griffin Steel Sword, witcher gear from Blood and Wine. It deals 335-409 damage at level 40, with +21% sign intensity and +25% crit damage. The sign intensity rises to 22% in NG+. Its diagram is in a crate under the stairs at Fort Ussar Ruins in Toussaint. It is a late-game weapon.
The sign intensity makes it a sword for a signs build, and the Griffin set bonuses push the same way. It also has +5% crit chance, +10% dismember chance and +5% XP from humans and nonhumans. It has 3 rune slots.
Set Bonus
The Griffin set is medium armor with 5 tiers: basic, enhanced, superior, mastercrafted and grandmaster.
- 3 pieces: after a Sign cast in standard mode with Stamina, the next Sign cast within 3 seconds costs no Stamina.
- 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger. Inside the trap, Stamina regeneration rises by 5/s, sign intensity rises by 100%, and damage taken drops by 20%.

- Unlock a grandmaster blacksmith through Master Master Master Master! in Beauclair.
- Have the grandmaster blacksmith craft it from the mastercrafted Griffin Steel Sword.
Grandmaster Griffin Steel Sword Map Location and Quest Guide
The pin marks the Fort Ussar Ruins in Toussaint. The Grandmaster Griffin Steel Sword diagram sits in a crate by the stairs on the east side of the ruins, with the gauntlets and boots diagrams. The fort is the first stop of Scavenger Hunt: Grandmaster Griffin Gear.
- Speak to Lafargue, the grandmaster smith in Toussaint, and ask about the Griffin gear to start Scavenger Hunt: Grandmaster Griffin Gear.
- Travel to the Fort Ussar Ruins.
- Kill the slyzard and its mother if they still guard the ruins.
- Head to the stairs on the east side of the ruins.
- Loot the crate by the stairs for the steel sword, gauntlets and boots diagrams.
