The Slyzard is a fire-breathing Draconid, often mistaken for a wyvern or a forktail. Slyzards nest in Toussaint, the land of Blood and Wine.
Lore
Slyzards are nasty and terribly dangerous beasts. Anyone who confuses one with a wyvern will regret it. A wyvern can tear apart and eat an untrained man in seconds. Only a slyzard can first roast him to a crisp with a blast of fiery breath.
Zator, one of the Crinfrid Reavers, once turned down a huge purse to kill one. "Some peasants once offered me a king's ransom to slay a slyzard. A damned hefty purse, chock full o' gold... But I turned 'em down. Coin's no good if you're dead."
Behaviour
Slyzards are very aggressive and attack from both the ground and the air. In a fight, they try to get close to their foe. Then they burn it with a breath of fire or knock it down with a sonic blast. Like wyverns, they also strike with venom-tipped tails.
Slyzards carry their prey back to the nest through the air. In Toussaint, one young slyzard tried to carry a whole cow home. It lost its grip, and the cow fell into a quarry and crushed a worker. When the young slyzard was wounded, its mother came to help it.
Weaknesses
Coat the blade with Draconid Oil. Slyzards are immune to burning, so Igni flames will not set them alight. Aard and Igni can still knock a slyzard out of the sky and force it to the ground. Quen also helps, and a Grapeshot bomb hurts it badly.
A slyzard likes to break off mid-fight, fly up and then plunge down at high speed, spitting balls of fire. Just before each fireball, a ball of flame forms in its mouth. Watch for it. The fireball explodes over a wide area, so roll clear early rather than relying on a short dodge. In the air, a slyzard also attacks with its claws and teeth.

Slyzards are fought in Contract: Bovine Blues, in Toussaint. The notice hangs on the boards in Flovive and at Ardaiso Quarry. Cows are falling out of the sky onto the quarry, where workers are building a giant statue of the Prophet Lebioda. The foreman needs the work to restart.
The cow's carcass and a dead worker point to a draconid. Necrophages, alghouls among them, gather around the carcass. The wounded beast smashed a crane, and its trail of blood leads past an abandoned still and up a hill. At the top, a young slyzard and its mother wait by their nest. Both must be killed. A trophy is taken from the mother, and the nest full of slyzard eggs can be burned for extra experience.
