Hierarch Square is the main square of the Free City of Novigrad, in the heart of the city. It also gives its name to the district around it. Many nobles live here. Their homes give them front row seats to the regular executions of mages by the witch hunters.

History
Until quite recently, many mages lived near the square. They fled when the witch hunters began their reign of terror. Many of the city's most beautiful townhouses now stand empty and neglected.
In the main quest Pyres of Novigrad, Geralt arrives here during a public burning. Caleb Menge, commander of the Temple Guard and leader of the witch hunters, burns Felicia Cori and the doppler Chappelle at the stake. The ransacked house of Triss Merigold lies through a courtyard just south of the square.
Trading posts and market stalls fill the square, much like the nearby Fish Market. Its merchants include a herbalist. An armorer works in an alcove under one of the buildings on the western side.
