Bloodsport is an SOS: Merc Needed gig from Regina Jones in Little China, Watson. The boxer Macidew Coolidge took money from the Tyger Claws to lose a fight, bet on himself instead, won, and fled. The Tyger Claws took his coach, Roh Chi-Won, and are holding him in the basement of their dojo. Macidew does not want Roh's death on his conscience, and Regina asks V to bring Roh out without a shootout.
Story
Boxathon
Regina says in the journal that the matter is urgent. Her client is Macidew Coolidge, once the star of the show "Boxathon" on N54. He wants someone to get his coach back from the Tyger Claws.
Macidew fell into debt and looked for an easy way out. He made a deal with the Tygers: a pile of cash to go down in his next fight. Instead, he went to a bookie in disguise, bet on his own win, knocked his opponent out in the second round, and flew off into the sunset. Then the Tygers kidnapped his coach, Roh Chi-Won. They threaten to kill him unless Macidew comes back to Night City. Regina asks V to reach Roh without raising the alarm, as hostages and shootouts do not mix.
The Dojo
The dojo on Brookland Street stands in a small walled courtyard. The courtyard is public, so the guard at the gate ignores V there. Several more Tyger Claws wait inside. In the basement, past two cameras, one ganger is beating Roh while another watches TV in the next room.
Who Paid
Roh moves slowly. At Regina's car, he sits on a bench and asks who paid to get him out. If V names Macidew, Roh is surprised and torn, as Macidew is the reason he was taken. V suggests the two should not meet again, and Roh agrees. V can also keep the client a secret.
