Emergency Brake

Emergency Brake

Class	Vehicle Quickhack

Emergency Brake forces a moving car to pull its handbrake and stop dead. It also sets off the car's alarm. It is a quick answer to a vehicle that chases V. It suits any build with the Carhacker perk, and it costs little RAM. Emergency Brake is a vehicle quickhack that becomes available as soon as V unlocks the Carhacker perk in the Intelligence tree.

Effect

Emergency Brake is a vehicle quickhack. V scans a car and uploads it, and the car pulls its handbrake. The vehicle stops abruptly. The alarm goes off at the same time. The effect lasts about ten seconds.

The upload takes only half a second. The RAM cost is low.

Emergency Brake is a tool for the road. It can stop a pursuer during a chase. It can also turn a car into a roadblock in front of other traffic.

How to Get Emergency Brake Guide

Put points into Intelligence until the Carhacker perk opens.
Unlock Carhacker.
Install a cyberdeck of a high enough tier.
Scan a vehicle and choose Emergency Brake.

Upgrades

Emergency Brake unlocks with the Carhacker perk. Its availability follows the tier of the installed cyberdeck. A higher tier deck therefore opens more vehicle quickhacks.

Character Builds

Emergency Brake needs the Carhacker perk, which sits in the first tier of the Intelligence tree. The quickhacks Carhacker unlocks depend on the tier of V's installed cyberdeck. Queue Acceleration lowers the RAM cost of quickhacks used on devices and vehicles.

Floor It, Take Control and Self-destruct are the other vehicle quickhacks. Floor It sends a car forward instead of stopping it. Take Control lets V drive the car remotely. Self-destruct blows the car up.

Lore

Emergency Brake belongs to the vehicle quickhacks that the Carhacker perk opens up. These quickhacks let a netrunner take remote control of a car, set off its alarm or even blow it up.

Notes

The car's alarm goes off when Emergency Brake lands.
