Self-destruct makes a car's engine explode. The whole vehicle goes up in the blast. Players use it to get rid of cars that chase V. It suits any build with the Carhacker perk, and it pairs well with Detonate Grenade. Self-destruct is a vehicle quickhack that becomes available as soon as V unlocks the Carhacker perk in the Intelligence tree.
Effect
Self-destruct is a vehicle quickhack. V scans a car and uploads it, and the engine explodes once the upload ends. The upload takes several seconds, which is much slower than the other vehicle quickhacks. The RAM cost is also the highest of the vehicle quickhacks.
Self-destruct also makes Detonate Grenade cheaper. After V explodes a vehicle with a quickhack, Detonate Grenade costs 10 RAM less for a short time. A netrunner can blow up a car and then turn an enemy's own grenade against them at a lower price.
How to Get Self-destruct Guide
- Put points into Intelligence until the Carhacker perk opens.
- Unlock Carhacker.
- Install a cyberdeck of a high enough tier.
- Scan a vehicle and choose Self-destruct.
Upgrades
Self-destruct unlocks with the Carhacker perk. Its availability follows the tier of the installed cyberdeck. A higher tier deck therefore opens more vehicle quickhacks.
Character Builds
Self-destruct needs the Carhacker perk, which sits in the first tier of the Intelligence tree. The quickhacks Carhacker unlocks depend on the tier of V's installed cyberdeck. Queue Acceleration lowers the RAM cost of quickhacks used on devices and vehicles.
Detonate Grenade is its main partner among the ultimate quickhacks. Emergency Brake, Floor It and Take Control are the other vehicle quickhacks. Emergency Brake stops a car on the spot. Floor It drives a car forward at full speed. Take Control lets V drive the car remotely.
Lore
Self-destruct belongs to the vehicle quickhacks that the Carhacker perk opens up. These quickhacks let a netrunner take remote control of a car, set off its alarm or even blow it up.
