Freedom of the Press is an SOS: Merc Needed gig from Regina Jones in Northside, Watson. Max Jones, an old friend from Regina's days as a muckraking journalist, stirred up so many hornets' nests that someone put a contract on his life. He hides in an old broadcast TV studio, he no longer takes Regina's calls, and she fears he has lost touch with reality. She wants him brought to her alive.

Story

An Old Friend

Regina explains in the journal. Night City does not like people who kick hornets' nests, and Max Jones kicked several at once, so hard that someone put a hit out on him. Regina would rather he stayed alive. Max is an old friend from her muckraking days. They co-wrote a podcast about independent farmers put out of business by Biotechnica drones. Those were the days.

Now Max will not even take her calls. He has always been stubborn, but she worries he has truly lost his grip. He probably thinks he can manage on his own, as all young, foolish men think they are invincible. V is to talk sense into him. If Regina found his hideout, it is only a matter of time before the others do too.

The Studio

Max has rigged the old studio with traps. When V finds him, he is armed and frightened, and one wrong word could end very badly.
