Getting Warmer... is an SOS: Merc Needed gig from Wakako Okada in Japantown, Westbrook. The netrunner 8ug8ear betrayed the Tyger Claws on a Kiroshi warehouse job, driving off with a van full of gear and leaving them inside. Now the Tygers have taken her building on Salinas Street. She has escaped into the Net, hidden behind software that will kill her if anyone unplugs her, and the Tygers are simply waiting for her to cook.
Story
Patient Tygers
Wakako tells the story in the journal. 8ug8ear and the Tyger Claws used to get along. They were meant to work a Kiroshi warehouse job together, but she left them hanging: she drove a van full of high end gear out by remote, and abandoned them inside to certain death. The Tygers survived, stubborn as ever. The next day they turned up at her flat, wanting to know where she had stashed the tech.
In desperation, 8ug8ear fled into the Net and wrapped herself in software that would kill her if they tried to unplug her. Now they only have to watch the clock. Sooner or later, she will have to come out or fry her own brain, and the Tygers are patient, especially when it comes to revenge. Wakako thinks they like it better this way. V is to get her out and call for transport, but disconnect her safely. She is useless to Wakako dead.
8ug8ear
The building is overrun by Tyger Claws, and its residents talk about it as V passes. 8ug8ear lies in her netrunner chair, unable to speak. She uses the screens in front of her to send V text: she needs coolant from the bathroom before V disconnects her, or she will overheat and die.
Getting Warmer... Map Location and Walkthrough
Getting Warmer... map location:
- Go to 8ug8ear's building on Salinas Street in Japantown and enter.
- Get past the Tyger Claws and go up to the second floor.
- Clear the hallway and enter 8ug8ear's flat, taking out the ganger on the phone on the balcony.
- Find 8ug8ear and read her messages on the screens.
- Take the coolant from the bathroom.
- Inject 8ug8ear to lower her body temperature.
- Disconnect 8ug8ear.
- Carry her to the fixer's car and put her in the boot.
