You Play with Fire... is a reported crime in Charter Hill, Westbrook. A netrunner called Zeitgeist ran a blackmail business on the side, selling compromising recordings of reporters, managers and cops. His last job was a hack on Kiroshi, and its netrunners proved too much for him.
Story
Another Scorched Runner
The journal smells it before V sees it: another burned runner. It wonders what he said just before he fried.
Too Close
A shard records Zeitgeist with his contact, Jorge. Jorge is angry, as the job should be done and the client is getting nervous. Zeitgeist admits he underestimated the Kiroshi netrunners. He cannot hack them from outside, and has to get close and jack into their local network directly. Someone must cover him while he is jacked in, so the price doubles. Jorge says the client will pay. Just get it done.
The List
Zeitgeist's list of tasks shows his other work. A reporter for N54 News, filmed with her lover, has paid, and the footage stays hidden for now. So does footage of a manager at Mizutani, who also paid. A cop called Billy, filmed cheating on his wife, has paid too, but the note says to release it anyway, because he is a cop. For the week ahead, Zeitgeist planned to take more recordings from corporate computers at Kiroshi and Yaiba, already paid for by his buyers.
