Sandayu Oda is a cyberninja of Arasaka and the personal bodyguard of Hanako Arasaka. He was trained by Goro Takemura and fights with Arasaka mantis blades. He should have been the key to V and Takemura's problems, but he becomes one more threat among many. He is never more than a step away from Hanako, which makes her very hard to reach.
Biography
Takemura's Student
When Oda joined Arasaka, Takemura trained him into a highly skilled fighter. Through the battles they shared, the two came to respect each other and owe each other a debt of honour. Arasaka saw his skills and made him Hanako's personal protector.
Night City
Oda travels to Night City with Hanako aboard an Arasaka carrier. After Saburo's death, the Arasaka parade turns into a memorial, and Oda grows suspicious of how it has been organised. Takemura asks him for a secret meeting, and Oda comes alone, by car and without camouflage, as a sign of trust. He listens to Takemura and V, but he refuses to help them. He lets them go with a warning that he will not be so lenient the next time they meet.
The Parade
On the night of the parade, Oda's worries come true. He argues with Adam Smasher about the poor security and Yorinobu's choices, and Smasher brushes him off. He leaves Hanako's side to deal with the trouble himself and catches V in the act. After a hard fight, V defeats him, and Takemura begs V to spare his former student.

Personality
Oda is disciplined, proud and loyal. He follows his orders exactly and stays out of the family's politics, caring only about keeping Hanako safe. He respects Takemura but will not betray his duty for him. Defeat wounds his pride more than his body.
Relationships
Hanako Arasaka is the woman he protects. Goro Takemura is his teacher. Adam Smasher is the security chief whose decisions he questions.
Jobs
Oda meets V and Takemura in secret in Play It Safe and fights V during Search and Destroy. He returns in Totalimmortal if he and Takemura are alive.

Endings
If V kills Oda after the fight, Takemura is angry and says he will remember it. If V spares him, he is taken for treatment, and his wounds heal faster than his pride. If Takemura survives, Oda joins Hanako's allies in the Arasaka ending and stands with V at the board meeting in Arasaka Tower.
Notes
Oda is fought as a boss during the parade. He uses mantis blades and optical camouflage.
