Arasaka is a worldwide Japanese megacorporation that deals in corporate security, banking and manufacturing. It is the longest running megacorporation in the world and one of the most powerful, known above all as a giant of arms making with a hand in wars on every continent. Its soldiers and agents are known for their training and for their loyalty to the company and to its head, Saburo Arasaka. The main story of the game is a fight against Arasaka from start to finish.
History
The Founding
Arasaka was founded in Tokyo as a manufacturing company. It grew rich by supplying the Imperial Army during the Second World War. Sasai Arasaka foresaw Japan's defeat and spread his fortune across the globe to keep it safe. His son, Saburo Arasaka, came home from the war a broken naval officer. He saw that the family's money could push Japan back to power through business instead of war. He took over the company and turned it into a global leader in security.
The Corporate Wars
Arasaka's rivalry with Militech led to a war between the two corporations. During it, a strike team stormed Arasaka Tower in Night City, and a nuclear blast destroyed the tower and a large part of City Center. Corporate press releases blamed an unnamed terrorist group. On the street, rumours speak of an inside job or a secret experiment gone wrong, and the truth may never be known. After the war, Arasaka was thrown out of America and only came back after the Unification War.
Night City Today
A new Arasaka Tower now stands on the site of the old one, the company's headquarters for both Americas and a symbol of its triumph over its enemies. A memorial to the victims of the blast stands at its foot, built partly from the ruins of the old tower. The company's walled port in Watson, Arasaka Waterfront, is its logistics hub, and its industrial park refits AVs with deadly weapons.

Way of Life
Arasaka keeps the largest and most powerful private army of any corporation. Its guards are famous worldwide and loyal to the death. Other firms often hire Arasaka guards, couriers and mercs to protect their own assets.
The company has a dark reputation. It covers its tracks with assassins, an army of lawyers and rumoured ties to the Yakuza. It buys up companies around the world and bleeds its Japanese rivals dry, yet it also gives heavy support to Japanese communities everywhere. In Night City it has close ties to the Tyger Claws, who take side jobs from its managers and are paid in cyberware and military weapons.
Saburo Arasaka still rules the corporation with an iron fist despite his great age, and even talk of who will succeed him is kept to a whisper. His children, Yorinobu and Hanako, stand on opposite sides of its future: Yorinobu leads the Taka faction, and Hanako the old guard of the Kiji. Arasaka's orbital station offers its most valued staff medical care no one else can buy.
Business
Arasaka's weapons and military vehicles are among the most wanted by police and security firms. It makes guns, cyberware and vehicles under its own name. Its Yukimura pistol started the revolution in smart guns that lock onto their targets. It also runs banking and security services worldwide, and with its vast capital and new technology it is poised to reach its political goals on a massive scale.
