The Beast in Me: Badlands is the second qualifying race of Claire Russell's street racing storyline, after The Beast in Me: City Center. Two days later, Claire texts V the start, on Brookland Street by the Laguna Bend Reservoir in the Badlands. Out in the desert, the rivals are Wraiths and Aldecaldos, and the only car allowed is Claire's Beast.
Story
A Date with the Beast
The journal pictures V waiting for a date with Claire and her turbocharged pet, the Beast, far from the city's hustle and bustle. Johnny wonders how many bodies have been left to bake in the Badlands sun after these races, and asks V not to become one. Watch out for tumbleweeds, bumpy patches and armoured Wraith trucks. The usual.
The Grid
At the dam, V calls Claire to say V is ready, then sits on a nearby bench to wait. In time, all the competitors arrive: two Wraith teams and three Aldecaldo teams, one of them made up of Jakub Antonowicz and Margot Wojciechowicz. V has a short chat with Claire and gets into the car. Moments before the start, a driver named Luigi taunts V and mockingly wishes V good luck.
Dean
After the race, Claire and V talk a little more. She speaks about her husband, Dean Russell, and what an amazing driver he was. Then she offers V a ride back to her garage.

- Read Claire's text two days after The Beast in Me: City Center.
- Go to Brookland Street by the Laguna Bend Reservoir in the Badlands.
- Call Claire to start the race.
- Sit on the bench and wait for Claire.
- Talk to Claire and get into her ride.
- Wait for the race to start and finish it.
- Stop at the finish line and talk to Claire.
- Get in Claire's ride and return to her garage.

Finishing the race secures one of the places needed for the final race, and winning it also pays €$ 3,860. The job also pays experience and Street Cred.
Tips
Save before the race in case of foul play from the other drivers. Only Claire's car can be used in this race.
