The Beast in Me: City Center

The Beast in Me: City Center
Type Side Job
District Vista del Rey
Region Heywood

The Beast in Me: City Center is the first qualifying race of Claire Russell's street racing storyline, after The Beast In Me. Some time later, Claire texts V the start, at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Skyline East in Vista del Rey, Heywood. The route runs through the heart of Night City, against gang crews, Militech drivers and the watchful eye of Peter Sampson.

Story

Free Drinks for Life

The journal says it is time to find out what really revs Claire's engine. The first leg of the circuit runs straight through the heart of the city. Back in Johnny's day, whoever won a race like this could count on free drinks for life. So, not for very long, in practice. But still.

At the start, V calls Claire to say V is ready, and the two decide which car to use, V's own or Claire's Beast. The choice does not change how the job plays out. V then sits on a bench nearby and waits for the others.

The Field

As V gets up, Peter Sampson, who has come to watch, mocks V. The rivals are a crew of 6th Street gangers, the Mox, the Tyger Claws, Militech drivers and the Valentinos. Claire explains that the NCPD will not bat an eye at the races or whatever happens during them, as long as they get paid. She hands V a shard with the route laid out for the races, and once V slots it in, they set off.

Back to the Garage

After the finish, Claire and V talk a little more, and she offers V a ride back to her garage.
