The Killing Moon
Type Main Job
Previous Firestarter
DLC Phantom Liberty

The Killing Moon is the Phantom Liberty main job on Songbird's path, after V helps her escape in Firestarter. Songbird plans to flee to the Moon on a shuttle, and V escorts her through the NCX spaceport to get there. At the end, she reveals a truth that forces V into the last choice of her story.

Story

V's Choice

The journal looks back on the choice V made in Firestarter. Both Reed and Songbird offered V a cure, so V was not trying to save anyone's life. Perhaps V saw that any choice would betray someone, and decided not to betray V's own self. So V stood by the woman fighting to survive, just as V is. Johnny thinks he understands, and he is glad he does not have to answer such questions himself. He wishes V and Songbird luck, as both of them will need it.

The Spaceport

After the events of Firestarter, Songbird gets in touch and asks whether V is ready. She arranges a vehicle and sends the coordinates. Her flight to the Moon leaves from the NCX spaceport, and she needs V to get her through. The way runs past many enemies, through a building site and a terminal. A mysterious man known as Mr. Blue Eyes can be seen watching from above twice along the way. When V asks who is helping her with the flight, Songbird hints at him.

Only One Cure

At the end of the spaceport, Songbird tells V the truth. There is only one cure, and she means to use it on herself. Then Reed catches up with them, and V has to decide what to do.

The Killing Moon Walkthrough

Getting Ready

  1. Wait for news from Songbird after Firestarter.
  2. Talk to Songbird and read her message with the coordinates.
  3. Collect the suitcase on the way. Its code is 930604.

The Spaceport

  1. Escort Songbird through the NCX spaceport, fighting the enemies on the way.
  2. Sneak behind the tarps on the building site if desired.
  3. Enter the service shaft, or use the ventilation shaft in the restroom.
  4. Carry Songbird towards the shuttle.

The Shuttle

  1. Talk to Songbird when she reveals the truth about the cure.
  2. Deal with Reed when he arrives, according to the choice below.

Choices

Let Songbird Go

To send Songbird to the Moon, lay her down when Reed arrives, tell him he cannot take her, and draw on him. V kills Reed and can loot his Iconic tech pistol, Pariah. V then takes Songbird to the shuttle and watches her launch into space while Johnny talks. This ending returns V to the main game with Johnny still in V's head.

Hand Songbird to Reed

To hand Songbird over, call Reed to negotiate before reaching the shuttle. When he asks V's price, say V wants to live, and agree to the deal. Carry Songbird to him, lay her down and call her a traitor. Reed takes her away on a new shuttle, and V asks him to look after her. This path leads on to Through Pain to Heaven and Who Wants to Live Forever, and a new future for V.

Rewards

Completing The Killing Moon rewards Pariah (depending on choices, missable).

Killing Reed lets V loot Pariah, his Iconic tech pistol. A suitcase on the way holds loot and opens with the code 930604.

Notes

  • The computers at the NCX spaceport can be read on the way.
  • Mr. Blue Eyes can be spotted twice: once watching V sneak through the building site, and once watching V and Songbird leave on the monorail with an umbrella in hand.
