DLC Phantom Liberty

Firestarter is the Phantom Liberty main job in which V and Alex, disguised as the Cassel twins, meet Kurt Hansen inside the EBM Petrochem Stadium in Dogtown. It is the turning point of Phantom Liberty. At the moment of truth, V has to choose between helping Songbird escape or handing her over to Solomon Reed, and the story splits in two from there.

Story

The Stadium

The journal is grim: this story will not end with smiles and hugs. V's finger is on the trigger, and the only question is who is in the sights, assuming Hansen does not shoot first.

V and Alex drive to the stadium, and Alex talks about Hansen and the art of playing someone else. The car is scanned at the gate. Albert Murphy, a Barghest soldier, meets them and warns that Barghest has heard about a possible FIA operation. He walks them to a locker, where they must leave their weapons before seeing Hansen.

Hansen's Test

Hansen tests the twins. He asks questions that only the real Aymeric and Aurore could answer. Too many wrong answers end the game at once. The dossier on the twins and what V learned in earlier jobs help with the answers, and some slips can be saved with a good follow up or with 20 Cool.

The Choice

Songbird arrives and leads V to the Neural Matrix, the device that may cure V. Alone with V, she asks for help to escape. V must decide whether to free her or capture her for Reed.

If V helps Songbird, V signals Alex to kill Hansen. Songbird breaks open the stadium and supports V with her hacks as they fight to the exit. They pass through the market, slip into the sewers and come out in a homeless camp, where Songbird has two cars waiting. Alex realises what has happened and tells Reed about V's last second change of heart.

If V sides with Reed, Songbird warns Hansen about the trick once she has the matrix. Hansen kills Alex, and V's ICE breaker stops Songbird's attack on V. Songbird escapes, and V follows through the stadium. At the market, Hansen and his soldiers ambush V, and V has to defeat Hansen in a boss fight.

The two paths continue in different jobs. Helping Songbird leads on to The Killing Moon.

Firestarter Map Location and Walkthrough

The map shows the EBM Petrochem Stadium, where the job begins.

Firestarter map location:

Meeting Hansen

  1. Drive to the stadium with Alex and wait for the car to be checked.
  2. Park the car. Read the information about Aymeric if desired.
  3. Follow Alex and talk to Murphy.
  4. Follow Murphy to the lift and ride it with him.
  5. Deposit V's weapons in the locker room.
  6. Follow Murphy to Hansen, sit down and talk to him. Stay in character.
  7. Follow Songbird when she arrives, and talk to her.
  8. Choose whether to help Songbird or capture her for Reed.

If V Helps Songbird

  1. Signal Alex to attack Hansen.
  2. Escape the secured area with Songbird. Pick up the weapons she finds on the way.
  3. Fight Hansen's soldiers and reach the locker with V's weapons.
  4. Return to Hansen's body if desired to loot his weapons.
  5. Wait for Songbird to open the door, then fight through to the market exit. Songbird can hack items and vehicles to help.
  6. Deal with Murphy, by sneaking around him or by defeating him for the club Murphy's Law.
  7. Take the door on the left in the escape area and keep going.
  8. Move the crates to open a path, follow the maintenance shaft and take the stairs down.
  9. Destroy the drones underground. One drops a cyberware capacity shard.
  10. Open the sewer gate and jump down, then help Songbird up when she hurts her ankle.
  11. Lead Songbird out of the homeless camp and talk to her.

If V Sides with Reed

  1. Follow Songbird's escape after she warns Hansen.
  2. Navigate the stadium and collect V's weapons on the way.
  3. Fight Hansen and his soldiers when they ambush V at the market entrance.
  4. Defeat Hansen. He starts with a machine gun and a revolver, then switches to a knife and charges once he is badly hurt.
  5. Loot Hansen for his weapons and carry on to follow Songbird.

Choices

Songbird or Reed

This is the biggest decision in Phantom Liberty. Helping Songbird escape kills Hansen through Alex and sets V against Reed and the FIA. Siding with Reed turns Songbird against V, costs Alex her life, and leads to a fight with Hansen himself. Each path leads to its own later jobs and its own ending for the expansion.

Hansen's Questions

The answers to Hansen depend on which twin V plays. Wrong answers can be saved with a good follow up or with high Cool, but too many end the game.

Rewards

Completing Firestarter rewards Murphy's Law (depending on choices, missable), Fang (depending on choices, missable), Bald Eagle (missable) and Wild Dog (missable).

Hansen's Iconic weapons can be looted from his body on either path. Murphy can drop the Iconic club Murphy's Law. A drone in the tunnels under the stadium drops a cyberware capacity shard on the Songbird path.

Tips

Save before the talk with Hansen, as failing his test ends the game. In the boss fight on the Reed path, keep moving when Hansen charges with his knife.
