The Ash of War: Vow of the Indomitable is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Sacred affinity and the Vow of the Indomitable skill. It is a mid-game find in Liurnia of the Lakes.
Vow of the Indomitable is a skill of the ancient warriors of the Erdtree: the wielder holds the shield aloft and is wrapped in golden power, becoming invincible for about a second. The invulnerability starts almost instantly and lasts far longer than a roll's, without giving up position. It costs a fair amount of FP but no stamina. It suits shield users who face sudden, hard to dodge attacks.
Stats
It grants the Sacred affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Keen, Heavy, Quality or Lightning. The skill costs 20 FP. It fits Thrusting Shield, Small Shield, Medium Shield and Greatshield.
How to Get Ash of War: Vow of the Indomitable Guide
- Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab in the middle of the swamp beneath the southwestern plateau of Liurnia of the Lakes, south-southeast of the Folly on the Lake Site of Grace and west of the Scenic Isle Site of Grace.
- Once obtained, it can be duplicated by trading Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Skill
The vow is best used just before an unavoidable hit lands, such as a grab, a fast combo finisher or a large blast. Recovery is quick, so an attack can follow right after. There is a short delay before another skill can be used, so it cannot be chained back to back for permanent invulnerability.
