The Magma Shot is a Magma sorcery in Elden Ring. It becomes available partway through a run, in Volcano Manor.

Magma Shot is a magma sorcery developed from the magma of Mt. Gelmir, one of the ancient hexes that Rykard, son of Queen Rennala, brought back into practical use as new sorcery. It flings a lump of magma that explodes on contact and leaves small pools of lava, with charging raising the damage of both. It deals fire damage, giving intelligence casters with a little Faith one of the few sorcery options outside magic damage. Fire also resets frostbite buildup, so it can be mixed into frost builds to proc frostbite repeatedly. Its short travel distance and firing arc mean free-aiming works better than relying on lock-on, and it suits sorcerers who want a fire option in their rotation.

Effect

Fires a lump of magma that explodes on contact and leaves small pools of lava, dealing fire damage; charging increases damage. Each cast costs 16 FP and 21 stamina and takes up one memory slot.

How to Get Magma Shot Guide

Magma Shot is a reward from Tanith at Volcano Manor for the first assassination request, against Old Knight Istvan. If Istvan is defeated after Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, the spell lies in the Drawing Room of Volcano Manor instead.

  1. Reach Volcano Manor on Mt. Gelmir, talk to Tanith and agree to join to receive the Drawing-Room Key.
  2. Open the drawing room down the corridor and read the Letter from Volcano Manor on the table.
  3. Travel to Stormhill and use the invasion sign to defeat Old Knight Istvan.
  4. Return to Tanith to receive Magma Shot.
