Balefire garrisons, towers and strongholds are Albaneve Summits outposts with signal fires that circle Howling Peak.

What's Inside
- Each holds a balefire atop a tower near the end of the garrison.
- Known sites: Garrison 'Silkfrost', 'Rimerock', 'White Pine' and 'Windward', Tower '1,000 Miles', Stronghold 'Iron Heart' and 'Lance Point', plus Everfrore Keep.
- Gunther Galeforth, a villager survivor, is found at Balefire Garrison 'Windward'.
How to Unlock
The Flame's quest Slaying The Corrupted Beast opens after Ignite The Coldest Elixir Well and marks the first balefire. The first one stands at Balefire Garrison "Silkfrost" in the Albaneve Summits. After lighting it, the quest asks for every other balefire in the ring around Howling Peak. With all of them burning, the boss Fell Dragon Youngling waits on the peak. Its head is the key item for Flame level 8.

Rewards
- Lighting every balefire wakes the boss Fell Dragon Youngling on Howling Peak.
- Its head gives Flame level 8, which lets Flame Altars keep the cold away in the base.
- The quest pays the Fell Dragon Youngling Head and 150 XP.
Tips
From each balefire, the next outpost can be seen in the distance. Lit balefires shoot red light into the sky, which helps to spot the ones still missing. The last one burns high up in Everfrore Keep, a fortified town held by Scavengers. The Keep is also the best way up Howling Peak. The summits are bitterly cold, so frost resistance gear and warm food make the trip safer.
