The Mercenary Set is a Nomad Highlands melee armor set for warriors who hit hard with two-handed weapons. Its strength is a sturdy mix of health, critical hits and two-handed damage. The Blacksmith crafts it once the Smithing Tools stand in the base. Pieces also turn up in chests.

Pieces

The helmet raises the chance and the damage of melee critical hits. The gloves add two-handed melee damage and a little extra damage against melee enemies. The chest adds a large block of health and some stamina, and the trousers add health and regeneration. The boots speed up health regeneration and start it sooner.

How to Get Mercenary Set Guide

The Blacksmith makes every piece, and the recipes need the Smithing Tools placed in the base. Armor recipes unlock on their own each time the Flame is upgraded, one crafting tier at a time. The main materials are Bronze Bars, Tin Bars, Leather and Fossilized Bone, with Monstrous Ribs and Petrified Shroud Stalker Shell for the heavier parts.

Levelling and Upgrades

The Blacksmith upgrades warrior armor for Runes. Crafted pieces are rare quality, while chests can hold common to legendary ones. The quality sets how many upgrade perks a piece can unlock. Legendary pieces unlock the most and need Legendary Runes for the later steps. The perks here add resistance to blunt, piercing, cutting and Shroud damage, more health, and extra levels in skills such as Barbarian's Path, Brute and Blood Rage. Upgraded gear peaks at level 55, far above the Nomad Highlands tier. The two-handed line continues with the Soldier Set in the Kindlewastes. Outgrown pieces salvage back into runes.

Lore

The Mercenary descriptions describe a hired fighter who has seen plenty of battles. The sturdy helmet protects the eyes and hides the wearer's expression, which makes them look fearless and intimidating. The heavy breastplate has lost its shine but not its notoriety. The gloves are said to be worth their weight in gold. The leg armour already looks as if it has seen many years of use. The scratched boots come with blunt advice: kick enemies when they are down.
