You throw the Basalt Bomb at the ground, not at an enemy. It hardens a patch of Ashlands lava into a platform that lasts just long enough to walk out to a Flametal vein and back. It has 2 block armour, or 3 when used to parry at its 1.5x bonus.
How to Craft
It is crafted at a level 1 Workbench from:
- 1x Asksvin Hide: dropped by Asksvin in the Ashlands.
- 1x Asksvin Bladder: dropped by Asksvin in the Ashlands.
- 3x Proustite Powder: dropped by Lava Blobs and mined from unstable lava rock in the Ashlands.

When to Use It
This is late game gear. Its Asksvin Hide, Asksvin Bladder and Proustite Powder all come from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.
Properties
It is not a weapon; it builds a floor on lava. Thrown into lava, it forms a small basalt platform, and that is how you reach a Flametal Ore Vein out in the molten ground at all.
The platform lasts 30 seconds, then it sinks. It floats for half a minute and then slowly settles into the lava, so crossing means a series of throws, not a bridge you build once.
Notes
Bombs are equipped by right-clicking their stack in the inventory, so with more than one kind of bomb on you, right-click the one you want to throw.
