The Bone Tower Shield is a shield in Valheim, carrying 32 block armour.
How to Craft
- Crafted at Workbench, station level 3.
- Costs 10x Wood, 10x Bone fragments, 3x Skeleton trophy at quality 1.
- Materials can be found in the Meadows biome.
When to Use It
Opening hours. Everything it takes comes out of the Meadows, so this is gear for a character who has just stood up.
Upgrades
Upgraded 3 times after crafting, each level wanting the station built one step further up than the last. Every figure quoted elsewhere on this wiki is quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy is somewhere on:

Properties
32 armour and 100 block force, from a Workbench. No forge and no metal: bone out of the Burial Chambers, which puts tower-shield numbers in your hand a whole tier early.
A tower shield cannot parry. It costs 10% of your movement speed while drawn and raises the cost of a dodge roll by the same 10%, and in exchange it blocks harder than anything else in its tier. What you give up is the parry, which staggers the attacker into taking double damage.
Notes
- A block consumes up to 10 stamina in proportion to the damage that got through, and fails if that leftover damage fills your stagger bar, 40% of maximum health, or if the stamina is not there.
- Block force is the knockback dealt back to a melee attacker, scaling from 50% to 100% with the block armour actually used.
- Parry bonuses are published per weapon type as well: 4x on a knife and 6x on flesh rippers, which beat every shield, though only on the weapon's own small block armour.
