The Meadows are where every world starts: rolling green grass, beech and birch thickets, streams that open into lakes, and Deer and Boar grazing in the open. It is bright, calm and almost entirely harmless. 86% of its weather is clear sky, and until you kill Eikthyr nothing worse than a Greyling comes out at night.
Locations
The Meadows run from the centre of the map out to about 5,100 m. The Sacrificial Stones sit at dead centre, and every world starts you in the Meadows. Past 500 m the Black Forest starts cutting into it, so far-out Meadows are patches rather than one continuous sheet.
| Location | Image | What's Inside |
|---|---|---|
| Sacrificial Stones | Seven carved stones at the exact centre of the map. Hang a boss trophy on its own stone for that boss's power. Nothing can be built within 26 m. | |
| Eikthyr's Altar | Three per world, all within 1,000 m of the centre. Two deer trophies summon him. | |
| Abandoned House | A ruined wooden building. Half hold a chest, a quarter a bee nest, and two of the thirteen layouts hide an axe head. | |
| Abandoned Farm | Two to five buildings with broken garden plots. Chests, bee nests, raspberry bushes, dandelions and boars. | |
| Draugr Village | A walled settlement past 2,000 m, full of draugr. Chests hide under the great hall floor. | |
| Viking Graveyard | Stones laid out as a longship. Dig the centre line for a buried chest, amber and coins. | |
| Dolmen | A capstone tomb. A skeleton rises from it at night; buried treasure below. | |
| Ancient Stone Circle | Five indestructible pillars. No loot, but they give maximum building support. | |
| Combat Ruin | A small wooden arena with a bone pile and a chest hidden under the platform. | |
| Hildir's Camp | A wagon, tents and a map table under a protective dome. Hildir sells clothes here. |
Boss
You summon Eikthyr at a mystical altar with 2 deer trophies. Each world has three of these altars, all within 1,000 m of the centre. He has 500 health and fights with antlers and lightning.
Killing him drops the Hard Antler, which becomes the Antler Pickaxe, and that pickaxe is the only way to mine Copper and Tin. His power cuts the stamina cost of running, jumping and swimming by 60% for five minutes.

Hazards
- Night brings the Cold effect, which cuts stamina regeneration unless you are near a fire.
- Rain and thunderstorms make you Wet and weather your buildings by one twentieth of their health a minute, down to half.
- Draugr villages past 2,000 m put a mid-tier fight in a starter biome. Draugr hit for 40 to 50 against bare skin.
- Bee nests sting back with poison in a 4 m radius.
- Trolls wander in from the Black Forest, and a falling tree will kill you as readily as anything living.
Lore
The runestones here are the world's welcome. One explains that Odin threw down the Vanir, the giants and the older things, and that the greatest of them could not be killed, so they were Forsaken and exiled to this world. Another tells you to keep to the grass, build away from the trees and fear the Horned One. Settlers left stones of their own: Ulf explains how to raise a roof, and Astrid the shieldmaiden remembers nothing of her life before.
Eikthyr is Eikþyrnir, the stag that stands over Valhalla. His stone reads "His antlers are branches of iron".
Notes
- Boars and Necks only spawn with stars past 800 m from the centre.
- Greylings, Deer and the Greydwarf spawner that appears after Eikthyr only fire inside forest patches, which are fixed at world generation. Planting trees does not create one.
- It is the best building biome in the game, with flat ground, no ambient status effect, and Stone circle pillars that give maximum support.
- You find Flint on Meadows shorelines and nowhere else.
- Tame Boars with Raspberries, Blueberries, Carrots, Onions, Turnips or Red Mushrooms.
