You need a Serpent Trophy before you can catch a Coral Cod, because only heavy bait will tempt one out in the Ocean.
How to Get It
Buy a Fishing Rod and ordinary bait from Haldor. Then make Heavy Fishing Bait at a food preparation table from twenty bait and one serpent trophy, which means killing a Serpent first. Sail out to open water and look for schools. They sometimes spawn close to a foreign shore, but usually well offshore. A large cod drains a lot of stamina on the reel, so eat properly before casting and stand on the boat rather than in the water. Back home, cut the fish into Raw Fish at the food preparation table and cook that on a cooking station.
Quality
Fish do not have stars. Instead, each fish has a quality from 1 to 5, rolled when it spawns. Most waters give a 20% chance to step up a level, while the Ashlands and Deep North give 15%. A higher quality fish is visibly larger, weighs more and cleans into more Raw Fish at a food preparation table.
Notes
It is one of the fish that go into the Fishing Hat, which takes one of every fish.
