Flint Spear is meant to leave your hand. Throw it, walk over and pick it up again, and the Boars and Greydwarves of the Meadows never get to close the distance on their own terms. It deals 20 pierce damage. At 20 total damage it ranks 9th among spears, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 1 Workbench with:
- 5x Wood: Chopped from any tree.
- 10x Flint: Picked up along river banks and shorelines.
- 2x Leather Scraps: Dropped by Boars and Bats, and dug out of Muddy Scrap Piles.

When to Use It
This is gear for the opening hours. Everything it takes comes out of the Meadows, so it suits a character who has just stood up.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. All other figures on this page are for quality 1, so use this table to see where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Pierce | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Workbench (Level 1) | 20 | 100 |
|
| 2 | Workbench (Level 2) | 26 | 150 |
|
| 3 | Workbench (Level 3) | 32 | 200 |
|
| 4 | Workbench (Level 4) | 38 | 250 |

Properties
It costs 6 stamina a throw, and you can have it on day one. Flint washes up along the water in the Meadows, so the first ranged attack in the game needs no mining, no arrows and no bow.
The secondary attack throws it for 1.5x damage, and you get the spear back. The whole cycle, pick-up included, takes about a second. A thrown spear floats, so one aimed at a Serpent from a boat can be recovered rather than lost to the sea.
Notes
- The throw's 1.04 seconds includes picking the spear back up, so the listed speed covers the whole cycle, not just the release.
- Thrown spears float, so you can recover one thrown at a Serpent instead of losing it to the sea.
- The primary moves you forward 0.33 m, the least of any melee class, so it does not walk you into a second enemy.
