The Gammeltroll is an elder troll and the largest creature in Valheim, standing 21 metres tall with 3,000 health. When it dies it turns to stone as a Petrified Gammeltroll. You can blast that apart for Petrified Tissue, the raw material for Bloodgold.
Behaviour
A Gammeltroll spawns with a wake-up animation once a player comes within 120 metres of its spawn point. From 12 to 300 metres away it throws logs every twelve seconds. It throws eight at a time in two bursts of four, a fifth of a second apart, and each log bursts for 150 blunt, 100 chop and 80 pickaxe damage across five metres. Every log stays where it lands as a Half Log.
Within fifteen metres it punches left and right, with each punch on its own four-second cooldown. A punch hits a fifteen-metre, 100-degree arc for 220 blunt, backed by tier 6 chop and pickaxe. Get within ten metres and it starts stomping. Each foot has its own ten-second cooldown and hits for 200 blunt, and the ground where it lands erupts for another 220 blunt, 100 chop and 100 pickaxe across ten metres. The punch and stomp also hit its allies, but the area damage does not.
At 21 metres tall it stands three times as high as a Troll from the Black Forest.
Where to Find It
It spawns anywhere in the Deep North above ten metres of altitude, by day and by night, always alone and one at a time. Its spawn point creates a single Gammeltroll and never respawns it.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Its body resists blunt, slash, pierce and frost, and fire and spirit do nothing to it. Aim for the head, its weak point, where pickaxe damage lands at double, though spirit still does nothing there. A perfect block does not stagger it.
- It takes extra damage from Pickaxe.
- It resists Blunt, Slash, Pierce and Frost, taking half damage from them.
- It is immune to Fire and Spirit.
Notes
- It drops nothing itself. The Petrified Gammeltroll it leaves behind only takes tier 6 pickaxe damage. Each segment drops two or three items, and each item has a one-in-three chance to be Petrified Tissue, otherwise Stone.
- The petrified body becomes part of the terrain, so you can build on it.
- Its own punch has a high enough tool tier to mine a Petrified Gammeltroll.
- You can chop the Half Logs it throws into three items. Each one is Wood two times in three and Timberwood one time in three.
