The Torch takes two pieces of kindling to make. It keeps the dark off a camp and happens to be what Greydwarves in the Black Forest least want to be hit with. It deals 4 blunt and 15 fire. At 19 total damage it ranks 12th for damage among clubs, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Blunt and fire damage hurt the Greyling, Neck and Frost Blob more than most things, and that is the reason to carry it.
How to Craft
You craft it by hand, straight from the inventory.
- 1x Wood: chopped from any tree.
- 1x Resin: dropped by Greydwarves and Greylings, and by felled trees.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood

| Resin | Meadows | - | spawn Resin

When to Use It
It belongs to the opening hours. Everything it needs comes from the Meadows, so this is gear for a character who has just stood up.
Upgrades
The Torch cannot be upgraded, so it stays at quality 1 with these stats and crafting costs:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Blunt | Fire | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | By hand | 4 | 15 | 20 |
Properties
It is not really a weapon but a lamp that frightens things. While it is equipped it counts as a fire, which scares off Necks, untamed Boar, Greylings and Greydwarves without a blow being struck. You can hold it in either hand.
Each swing deals 15 fire for 4 stamina. More creatures take extra damage from fire than from any other damage type in the game, so the cheapest attack available also has the widest list of targets. The torch has a single attack.
Notes
- It burns out. Durability drains on its own while it is equipped, giving about 10 minutes of light against a 9 minute night. A torch cannot be repaired, and at 0% it disappears.
- Despite its description, it gives no warmth, so it does nothing for you in the Mountain.
- You start the game holding one, and it cannot be displayed on an Item Stand.
