The Wood Tower Shield is for the player who would rather soak a Greydwarf's swing than time a parry, and the Meadows supplies everything it costs. It has 10 block armour.

How to Craft

You craft it at a level 1 Workbench from:

  • 10x Wood: chopped from any tree.
  • 6x Leather Scraps: dropped by Boars and Bats, and dug out of Muddy Scrap Piles.
Name Image Biome Crafting Station Spawn ID
Wood Wood All biomes - spawn Wood
Leather Scraps Leather Scraps Meadows - spawn LeatherScraps

When to Use It

This is opening-hours gear. Everything it takes comes from the Meadows, so it suits a character who has just stood up.

Upgrades

You can upgrade it 2 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Figures quoted elsewhere are for quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:

Quality Crafting Station Block armor Durability Workbench level Resources
1 Workbench (Level 1) 10 200 1
2 Workbench (Level 2) 16 250 2
3 Workbench (Level 3) 22 300 3

Properties

It has 100 block force, straight from a Workbench. Block force is the knockback dealt back to whatever hit you, and 100 is 5 times what the Wood Shield manages. Something that bounces off you is not hitting you again.

A tower shield cannot parry. While drawn, it costs 10% of your movement speed and raises the cost of a dodge roll by the same 10%. In exchange, it blocks harder than anything else in its tier. What you give up is the parry, which staggers the attacker into taking double damage.

Notes

The design and color are picked with the style button at the crafting bench and cannot be changed once the shield is made.
