Wood, Resin and a few Leather Scraps from Meadows boars make the Wood Shield. This is where blocking begins for most Vikings, long before there is any metal to hide behind. It has 6 block armour.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 1 Workbench from:
- 10x Wood: chopped from any tree.
- 4x Resin: dropped by Greydwarves and Greylings, and by felled trees.
- 4x Leather Scraps: dropped by Boars and Bats, and dug out of Muddy Scrap Piles.

When to Use It
This is opening-hours gear. Everything it takes comes from the Meadows, so it suits a character who has just stood up.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 2 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Figures quoted elsewhere are for quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:

Properties
Its 6 block armour is enough for a while. This is the first shield in the game, made from wood at a Workbench. Against a Greyling or a Neck, it is the difference between a fight and a death.
It is the middle option, and the one that parries. It has less raw block armour than the tower shield of its tier, but a round shield can parry, and a parry staggers the attacker into double damage for as long as the stagger lasts. The Wood Tower Shield has 4 more armour and 80 more block force, but it cannot parry.
Notes
- You choose the design and colour with the style button at the crafting bench, and you cannot change them once the shield is made.
