The Crossbow is the standard crossbow of The Witcher 3. It comes in 7 variants, from Common to Relic. The Common variant has +101% attack power and comes from Vesemir in White Orchard. The Relic variant reaches +200% at level 30. The line runs from the early game in White Orchard to the late game, with Master variants at levels 3 to 21 and Magic ones at 14 to 26.
Every variant raises attack power, from +101% on the Common to +200% on the Relic. Damage runs from 4-6 up to 9-11. The Magic variants add armor piercing (+1-5 and +5-10). The later Magic variant and the Relic add +1-2% adrenaline gain. The Relic also gives +1-10% bonus experience from monsters and from humans and nonhumans.

How to Get Crossbow
- Common: Vesemir gives it just before the griffin fight in The Beast of White Orchard.
- Master (variant 2): Open the chest in the basement of the southeastern abandoned house in Mulbrydale, or the iron chest in the Isolated Shack near Crow's Perch. Smiths in Velen, Novigrad and Skellige also sell it.
- Master (variant 3): From level 4, Éibhear Hattori and smiths in Velen and Skellige sell it. It is also random loot.
- Master (variant 4): From level 8, it is in the deserter bandit camps north of Marauders' Bridge, near Mowshurst, between Lindenvale and Lurtch, and far north of Road to Bald Mountain.
- Magic (variant 5): From level 14, Yanne at Kaer Trolde citadel and Éibhear Hattori sell it. It is also random loot.
- Magic (variant 6): From level 20, Éibhear Hattori in Novigrad sells it. It is also random loot.
- Relic: From level 25, Éibhear Hattori sells it. It is rare random loot and is more common in Skellige's weapon containers.
Crossbow Map Location and Quest Guide
The pin marks The Beast of White Orchard, a main quest that the commander of the Nilfgaardian garrison gives in White Orchard. Vesemir hands Geralt this crossbow just before the griffin fight. Its bolts knock the griffin out of the air.
- Agree to kill the griffin for the commander of the Nilfgaardian garrison. He points Geralt to Tomira the herbalist and Mislav the hunter.
- Visit Tomira. She sends Geralt to the river to find buckthorn.
- Dive into the river and use Witcher Senses to pick the buckthorn from the riverbed.
- Go to Mislav's hut, then follow his tracks into the woods.
- Follow Mislav to the site of the griffin attack.
- Examine the clues at the site with Witcher Senses.
- Return to the White Orchard inn and tell Vesemir about the clues.
- Meet Vesemir in the field he picked for the trap. He gives Geralt the crossbow before the griffin arrives.

Notes
The level of variants 2 to 6 depends on the rolled attack power. For example, variant 2 is level 3 up to 120% attack power and level 7 above it.
