The Precision Bolt is a Master crossbow bolt that adds piercing, silver and armor piercing. The crafted variant gives +12 piercing, +12 silver and +7 armor piercing at level 4. The basic variant gives +20 piercing, +20 silver and +15 armor piercing. Its diagram is in the treasure chest for Tough Luck in Velen. The crafted bolt is an early-game item, while shops sell the basic one from level 15 in the mid game.
The basic variant's +20 piercing matches the Relic Exploding Bolt. Only the underwater bolts, at +400, have a higher silver bonus than its +20. Its +15 armor piercing is more than double the crafted variant's +7.

How to Get Precision Bolt
- Crafted: Get Diagram: Precision Bolt from the treasure chest for Tough Luck in Velen or from a random diagram location. You can also buy it from the armorer in Hierarch Square, the Fish Market blacksmith or the merchant at the Isolated Hut. Each craft makes a stack of 20. The blacksmiths in Arinbjorn and Oxenfurt, Zoltan and the epilogue smith also sell the crafted bolts.
- Basic: From level 15, buy them from the blacksmith at Kaer Trolde citadel or Éibhear Hattori. Some arbalists drop them, for example the Baron's henchmen at Crow's Perch after Return to Crookback Bog.
Precision Bolt Map Location and Quest Guide
The pin marks the Tough Luck treasure on a small road southeast of the Devil's Pit in Velen. The Precision Bolt diagram always lies in the chest on the destroyed wagon there. A foglet guards the spot.
- Go to the hidden treasure on the small road southeast of the Devil's Pit.
- Kill the foglet that guards the destroyed wagon.
- Loot the bodies by the wagon for a letter and a small key.
- Read the letter to start Tough Luck.
- Unlock the chest on the wagon with the key and loot the Precision Bolt diagram.
