The Animals are a street fighting gang that values raw muscle above everything else. Where most people in Night City rely on cyberware and guns, the Animals pump themselves full of steroids and supplements. They use that muscle to scare, extort and beat down anyone who needs to be taught a lesson. For them the concrete jungle is not a figure of speech.
History
The Animals have no single history or leader, because the gang is made of many independent packs. At the time of the game, NetWatch hires Sasquatch and her pack to guard its operation in the Grand Imperial Mall in Pacifica. NetWatch wants to stop the Voodoo Boys from reaching the Blackwall, and the Animals keep intruders away from its agent while he works. Other packs train at gyms and fight in the city's illegal rings.

Way of Life
The Animals have no fixed turf and can turn up almost anywhere in the city, though nobody goes looking for them. The gang is split into small packs, each led by its biggest and strongest member, the alpha, who may be a man or a woman. Fights inside a pack are settled by combat until one side gives up completely.
Members avoid most cyberware and brew their own body boosters instead, from hormones to animal supplements, though they do use some implants that make the body stronger. Their favourite drink is the Juice, a homemade hormone cocktail that makes the user bigger, stronger and faster, at a high cost to health. Many wear tattoos and hoods, and some have beast-like jaws or striped and spotted skin.
The Animals are fascinated by the wild side of human nature, which they see as the border between people and beasts. Each of them tries to prove that they belong to a new and stronger kind of human. To show it, they take on dangerous, heavily chromed enemies, whether gangers, police or corporate soldiers.
Business
The Animals are best known for brutal raids on homes and on other gangs' turf, and for hijacking transports. They run illegal cage fights and make and sell steroids, and some packs raid pharmacies, chemical shipments and drug dealers. Their strength, their size and their skill in martial arts make them ideal bouncers and bodyguards, and clubs, brothels and corporations all hire them. Some packs live on extortion.
