I'll Fly Away is a side job in which Mitch Anderson asks V to help him say goodbye to Scorpion, the Aldecaldo who died in Riders on the Storm. It opens shortly after V and Panam save Saul Bright from the Corp-Bud Cement Factory, at the Mobile Camp in the Badlands. Scorpion's last wish was to go out with a bang, and Mitch means to grant it.

Story

Unfinished Business

Johnny notes in the journal that something about dead people draws V to their unfinished business. First it was Johnny himself, and now Scorpion. Mitch wants V to fulfil his friend's final request. Johnny admits it has his curiosity piqued, but as a dead guy, he is biased.

Mitch waits on the south west side of the Aldecaldo camp, near the hill with Scorpion's burial site. After a heartfelt talk, he asks for help with a final tribute. He drives Scorpion's car and asks V to follow in his own car to one of Scorpion's favourite spots. On the way, Mitch remembers his friendship with Scorpion.

The Bridge

The spot is a collapsed bridge on the edge of a ravine in the northern Badlands. There Mitch reveals that Scorpion's body is in the boot. V is shocked, but Mitch explains that Scorpion wanted to be sent off with a bang. Mitch puts the body in the driver's seat, and V places a canister of CHOOH2 in the passenger seat. V lights the rag Mitch stuffed into the fuel tank, while Mitch starts the car remotely.

The Send Off

The two watch as the car rolls off the ramp into the ravine and explodes. Mitch tells V it felt right to include V, as he and the others are only alive because of V. As thanks, he gives V the good luck charm that he and Scorpion loved, an action figure, along with Scorpion's knife.

I'll Fly Away Map Location and Walkthrough

I'll Fly Away map location:

  1. Read Mitch's message after Riders on the Storm, while still in the Badlands.
  2. Meet Mitch on the south west side of the Mobile Camp, near Scorpion's burial site, and talk to him.
  3. Get in Mitch's car and follow him to the collapsed bridge.
  4. Talk to Mitch.
  5. Take the gas canister and put it in the passenger seat of Scorpion's car.
  6. Talk to Mitch.
  7. Light the rag on fire.
  8. Follow Mitch and talk to him.

Rewards

Completing I'll Fly Away pays 2,303 experience and 3,453 Street Cred. It also rewards Stinger and Action Figure.

Mitch gives V the Iconic knife Stinger and Scorpion's action figure. The job also pays experience and Street Cred.

Tips

The job can be locked out. It is only available before Queen of the Highway, and starting With a Little Help from My Friends may also close it, as Mitch moves to a new spot in his van.

Notes

  • Unlike other decorations, the action figure only goes on display once V places it on the small table next to the sofa in V's apartment.
  • Scanning the figure shows it is from the KO Kombat series, and it looks very much like the fighter Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
  • The poem Death of a Mercenary, author unknown, lies on a table at the end of the broken bridge.
