Riders on the Storm is the first side job of Panam Palmer's storyline, after Life During Wartime. The Wraiths have captured Saul Bright, the leader of the Aldecaldos, and Panam asks V to help rescue him from their camp in the Badlands. The job ends with a night at Ingalls Farm, sheltering from a dust storm. It is the start of the road to Panam's romance and the Aldecaldos ending.

Story

Panam's Call

The journal says it must be serious. A tough woman like Panam would not call for some small chore, so V should not waste any time getting to the Aldecaldo camp.

Panam explains that the Wraiths took Saul while he was out on patrol, and they have been watching their camp in Sierra Sonora ever since. She asks for V's help and promises a reward in return. At the camp, she proposes a quiet plan: V sneaks into the Wraith camp while she covers V from a high point.

The Drone

Mitch returns and offers his drone. Flying it over the Wraith camp, V studies the gate and the fence, the tyre tracks and a truck, the garage and the main building, where Saul is most likely held. Mitch also gives V a stimulant called a SuperJet, to help get Saul out of the compound once he is found.

The Wraith Camp

V and Panam drive to the camp in a van as a dust storm rolls in, so they must move fast. V gets into the main building and finds Saul in the cellar. If the escape goes quietly, the three drive off in peace. If the Wraiths see them, they give chase, and V has to fight them off from the van. Either way, the storm covers their retreat to Ingalls Farm.

Ingalls Farm

At the farm, V restores the power and the three settle in for the night. Saul and Panam argue about the clan's future, and V can take a side. After Saul goes to bed, V and Panam share a drink on the couch. V can make a move on her, but she stops V: the timing is not right. In the morning, she thanks V and hands over the promised rifle. A masculine V who asks about the night before gets a kiss.

The Aldecaldo Camp

  1. Answer Panam's call after Life During Wartime and meet her at the Aldecaldo camp.
  2. Follow Panam and talk to the Aldecaldos.
  3. Take the shard and use Mitch's drone.
  4. Observe the camp gate and the perimeter.
  5. Scan the vehicle tracks and the truck.
  6. Observe the main building and the garage.
  7. Disconnect from the drone and talk with Panam and Mitch.
  8. Accept the SuperJet Mitch offers.

The Rescue

  1. Get into the van with Panam and head to the camp. Stay with her, as leaving her fails the job.
  2. Get out of the van and get inside the camp, quietly or by force.
  3. Go to the main building. Look for information on Saul and check the security feed if desired.
  4. Find Saul in the cellar, by the stairs on the ground floor or through the vents with enough Technical Ability.
  5. Free Saul.
  6. Leave by the maintenance tunnel near the cellar. Breaking its fence needs 9 Technical Ability.
  7. Get into the back of the van, and fight off the pursuers if the Wraiths saw V.

The Farm

  1. Find shelter at Ingalls Farm and follow Saul.
  2. Restore power to the farm with the external panel.
  3. Talk to Panam and sit on the couch.
  4. Talk to Panam in the morning on the porch.
  5. Take the rifle by her motorbike and talk to her and to Johnny.

Choices

Panam's Romance

A masculine V can lay the ground for a romance. On the couch, side with Panam against Saul, toast to the storm, ask if she is pleased with her stay, suggest she take her shoes off, and then touch her thigh. She will stop V, which is expected. In the morning, say V's back is numb, ask why she did not stay with her family, and stop her by the motorbikes to talk about last night.

The Escape

A quiet escape avoids the car chase. Killing every Wraith in the camp leads to a special exchange between V, Panam and Saul after the rescue.

Rewards

Completing Riders on the Storm pays 1,158 experience and 1,737 Street Cred. It also rewards Overwatch and Problem Solver (missable).

Panam gives V the Iconic sniper rifle Overwatch. The Iconic submachine gun Problem Solver is looted from a tough Wraith near the entrance of the compound. A chest near Saul's cell holds a baton.

Tips

The job fails if V leaves the area for too long after starting it. Panam then texts that Saul has died, and her storyline, her romance and the Aldecaldos ending are lost.

The Wraith camp can also be cleared before the job, which leaves it empty during the rescue.
