With a Little Help from My Friends is the side job in which Panam Palmer plans to steal a Militech Panzer, the Basilisk, from a convoy on Highway 101. It follows Riders on the Storm, with a call from Panam to the Aldecaldo camp in the Badlands. To stop the convoy, the nomads need an old freight train, and V and Panam spend a night by the fire with the clan's veterans.

Story

The Plan

Johnny cannot hide his admiration. In the journal he calls it the great nomad saga: Panam is up to something again, she never knows when to quit, and he loves her for it. He jokes that V might as well pitch a tent in the desert, and suspects that this is not only about the job anymore.

At the camp, Saul is furious with Panam for calling V in. He has forbidden her to even think about the Militech convoy. Mitch calls Saul a fool for letting a Basilisk slip away. The clan has been struggling since taking work from Biotechnica, and a Panzer would restore its standing.

Panam's plan is to block the convoy where the railway crosses Highway 101, where the Basilisk will be carried on two trucks. To do that, the nomads need to get an old freight train moving. Panam introduces V to the veterans of the clan: Bob Sagan, Cassidy Righter, Carol Emeka and Teddy Simos.

The Station

At the Corp-Bud railway station, Carol explains that someone must override the controls in the control tower to start the train. V and Panam find a way in and climb to the control room. A punch card is needed for the train's controls, and V finds it in a drawer in a storeroom. With the card in the reader, the old locomotive starts to move. Panam and V share a quiet talk at the window.

The Campfire

That night, the nomads sit around a fire near the junction, talking about their troubles and about Scorpion, who died in Life During Wartime. Panam looks up at the stars, and V can look up with her.

The Convoy

In the morning, the Aldecaldos ride alongside the train to the crossing. The train smashes into the convoy, and after a firefight with the Militech escort, the nomads take the Basilisk and escort the trucks back to the camp. Saul and Panam give each other an earful. Panam sets the others to work on the Panzer and tells V she will call when she needs more help.

The Camp

  1. Answer Panam's call after Riders on the Storm and go to the Aldecaldo camp.
  2. Talk to Panam, Mitch and Saul.
  3. Follow Panam and Mitch and discuss the plan with the nomads.
  4. Talk to the nomads if desired.
  5. Get into Panam's car, or ride to the junction alone.

The Control Tower

  1. Find the entrance to the control tower: the front door needs Technical Ability, the back door needs Body, or climb to the balcony above the back door.
  2. Go up the control tower.
  3. Find the punch card in a drawer in the storeroom.
  4. Take the punch card and talk to Panam.
  5. Use the card in the reader in the next room.

The Campfire

  1. Join the nomads at the junction.
  2. Talk to the veterans by the campfire.
  3. Look at the sky with Panam when she talks about the stars.

The Convoy

  1. Get into Panam's car in the morning.
  2. Follow the train.
  3. Shoot the coupler of the train car if desired, so it rams a Militech vehicle.
  4. Defeat the Militech escort.
  5. Get back into the car and escort the trucks to the camp.
  6. Meet with Saul, then talk to Panam.

Choices

Telling Saul

V can talk to Saul at the start. Keeping Panam's plan to V's self is safe. Telling him about it ends the job: Saul rewards V with a large sum of eddies, and later texts V to thank V and leave a gift at the Sunset Motel. But Panam calls, furious, and breaks off contact. Her storyline, her romance and the Aldecaldos ending are lost.

Refusing

V can decline to take part. The nomads go ahead anyway, and Mitch says V can still join them at the station.

Panam's Romance

For a masculine V, choose sincere answers when Panam asks why V is helping, and never say V is doing it for money. Agree to join with the veterans. At the window, tell her V missed her, say they can skip the tiptoeing, ask why it is different with V, and touch her hand. At the campfire, ask if she is worried about Saul, and later move closer because it is getting cold.

Rewards

Completing With a Little Help from My Friends pays €$ 42,940 (dependent), 1,322 experience and 1,981 Street Cred. It also rewards Bonewrecker (depending on choices).

The job pays eddies, experience and Street Cred. Telling Saul about the plan gets V the Mizutani Shion "Bonewrecker" from him, at the cost of Panam's storyline.
