Stinger is the Iconic knife of Scorpion, an Aldecaldos nomad and the best friend of Mitch. It deals both Physical and Chemical damage, with a raised chance to cause Bleeding and Poison. Its Iconic effect links the two. A hit on a poisoned enemy always makes them bleed. A hit on a bleeding enemy always poisons them. The knife can be swung in close or thrown, so it works well in a Cool build that kills with throwables. It is also a keepsake from a Badlands farewell that V helps to organise. Stinger is a mid-game reward from the minor job I'll Fly Away, at the Aldecaldos camp in the Badlands, after Riders on the Storm.
Combat
Stinger is a throwable knife, so it has two ways to attack. In melee, it is a quick stabbing blade. When thrown, it hits from range. It then needs a short recovery time before it can be thrown again.
The Iconic effect makes Stinger very strong at damage over time. Bleeding and Poison both deal damage over time. Once either effect lands, the next hit guarantees the other. In two quick strikes, a single enemy ends up both bleeding and poisoned. A good approach is to throw the knife to start Poison, then follow up in melee.
As a knife, Stinger also works well for stealth. Killer Instinct gives knives bonus damage outside of combat. A thrown Stinger is therefore a strong, silent way to start a fight.

Character Builds
Throwable weapons use the Cool tree. Scorpion Sting cuts throwable recovery time. Its crits, headshots and weak spot hits also apply Poison, which triggers Stinger's Iconic effect directly. Accelerated Toxin Absorption makes strong attacks and throws on a poisoned enemy deal a large burst of Poison damage at once. Juggler cuts recovery time further and adds headshot damage. It also resets throwable cooldowns after a headshot, crit or Poison kill. Parasite restores Health on crits and headshots with thrown weapons. Style Over Substance guarantees crits on throws made while crouch-sprinting, sliding, dodging or dashing.
For cyberware, Handle Wrap raises crit chance with throwables for a few seconds after equipping or throwing one. Stabber adds crit chance with blades and throwables.
Select a Build
The build opens from stealth and removes a few targets before the fight starts. Headshots and crits with thrown knives bring the knife back to hand through Juggler. When the character is detected, the Sandevistan or Kerenzikov slows time to finish the enemies who spotted it.

Lore
The item text calls Stinger small but incredibly deadly. It says the knife belonged to Scorpion, a nomad of the Aldecaldos clan. Scorpion dies in the Badlands, and his closest friend, Mitch, wants to honour him properly.
After V helps the Aldecaldos rescue their leader Saul in Riders on the Storm, Mitch asks V for help with a last tribute. The two drive out to a collapsed bridge over a ravine, one of Scorpion's favourite spots. There Mitch reveals that Scorpion's body is in the trunk. Scorpion wanted to be sent off with a bang. V places a gas canister in the passenger seat, Mitch sets the body behind the wheel, and V lights the rag in the tank. The car rolls off the ramp and explodes in the ravine.
Afterwards, Mitch thanks V for being part of it. He hands over Scorpion's knife, Stinger, along with Scorpion's action figure, his good luck charm.
Notes
- The action figure that comes with Stinger is Scorpion's good luck charm.
