Saul Bright is the head of the Aldecaldos clan camped in the Badlands, the family that also counts Panam Palmer among its members. He took over at a dangerous time, when one wrong step could tear the family apart. He broke with the clan's tradition of smuggling and sought work with the corporations, which did not go down well at the camp. Stubborn, bold and principled, he commands the grudging respect usually kept for the most righteous, and the most unbearable.
Biography
The Leader
In his younger days Saul was a daring nomad. Panam grew up on stories of him moving people across the border under bombardment and setting a stolen Petrochem tanker ablaze in the desert to give the children a show. As leader he became more careful. When Scorpion came back from the Unification War and urged the family to join the Snake Nation, Saul punished him for it.
Biotechnica
Saul brings his clan to the Badlands around Night City in search of steady work. He negotiates with Biotechnica to recover cargo the corporation lost in the desert, and he hopes to tie the family to the company for good. Panam and others think this will make the nomads corporate slaves, and the quarrel drives Panam away from the clan.
Captured and Rescued
Saul ventures out with a small patrol and is captured by the Wraiths, who keep him drugged in a basement. Carol Emeka, who leads in his absence, hesitates, so Panam and V sneak into the Wraith camp and free him. Panam drives them away through a sandstorm, and they shelter in an empty farmhouse for the night. Saul offers to take Panam back on condition that she follows orders.
When Panam plans to steal a Militech tank, Saul forbids it and threatens to throw her out. After the raid succeeds and the Basilisk helps defend the camp from a Raffen Shiv attack, he admits he was wrong. He makes Panam co-leader of the clan at his side and moves the camp to a safer place.

Personality
Saul is stern, proud and careful. He always tries to do the right thing for the family and never denies responsibility for his choices. He hates being challenged, but he can admit a mistake when it matters. He has a dry sense of humour that shows through his gruff manner.
Relationships
Panam Palmer once idolised him and now argues with him at every turn, yet the two care for each other. Mitch Anderson, Cassidy Righter and Carol Emeka are trusted members of his family. Scorpion clashed with him over the clan's future. The Wraiths and the Raffen Shiv are his enemies.
Jobs
Saul's rescue is the side job Riders on the Storm. He also appears in Life During Wartime and in With a Little Help from My Friends, and he leads the clan in the Aldecaldos ending.

Endings
If V asks the Aldecaldos for help in the final act, Saul agrees, also seeing a chance to take what the clan can from Arasaka. He leads the family into Night City with Panam. In the ending where V leaves with the nomads, the clan crosses the border together.
If V completed the Aldecaldo jobs, his message during the credits calls V an Aldecaldo and promises that the family always takes care of its own. If V told him about Panam's raid instead, he thanks V and gives V a car before the clan leaves.
Notes
Leaving the Wraith camp during Riders on the Storm for too long fails the job, and Saul dies.
