Panam Palmer is a nomad of the Aldecaldos clan who left her family after a quarrel with its leader, Saul Bright, and came to Night City to work as a merc. She is caught between two lives: she knows she needs a change, but breaking with the family that holds all her friends may have gone too far. Her side jobs in the Badlands are among the longest in the game, and her clan can help V in the final assault on Arasaka Tower. She is a romance option for a V with a male body.
Biography
Life with the Aldecaldos
Panam grew up among the Aldecaldos and counts Mitch Anderson, Scorpion and Cassidy Righter among her closest friends. As a child she saw her best friend taken by the Raffen Shiv, a nomad pack that turned to banditry, and Cassidy brought the child back. She never speaks about that day. She looked up to Saul Bright when she was young, but as an adult she clashes with him over his plan to tie the clan to Biotechnica. Panam believes the family should stay free of the corporations, and the argument ends with her leaving for Night City.
Ghost Town
In the city Panam takes merc work from Rogue and is often paired with a nomad called Nash. On one job Nash betrays her, steals the cargo and takes her truck, the Thorton Mackinaw Warhorse. Rogue refuses to help her, so when V comes asking for help with the hunt for Anders Hellman, Panam names her price. V helps her ambush the Raffen Shiv at Rocky Ridge, and optionally kills Nash to recover her truck.
Panam and V then take over the Sunset Motel as a base and plan to bring down the Kang Tao AV carrying Hellman. They seize a power station and turn it into an electromagnetic pulse. When that fails, Panam shoots the AV down with a rocket launcher. Mitch and Scorpion rush the crash site too early, Scorpion is killed and Mitch is taken hostage. V can stay to save Mitch or go straight after Hellman, and Panam remembers the choice.
Saving Saul
Raffen Shiv in league with the Wraiths ambush a party of Aldecaldos and capture Saul. Carol Emeka, who leads the clan while Saul is gone, hesitates, so Panam calls V. The two sneak into the Wraith camp, V frees Saul, and Panam drives them out through a sandstorm. They shelter for the night in an empty farmhouse, where Saul offers to take her back on condition that she follows orders. The next morning V can convince her to return to the clan.
The Basilisk
Panam learns that a lightly guarded Militech convoy is moving a Basilisk hover tank through the Badlands. Saul forbids the raid, but she plans it anyway with Mitch, Carol and other Aldecaldos and asks V to join. Telling Saul about the plan ends the raid and Panam cuts all ties with V. Joining her leads to a night of waiting by an old rail line and an ambush on the convoy.
The family assembles the stolen tank, and Panam teaches V to drive it through its neural link. The Raffen Shiv then attack the camp, and the Basilisk helps drive them off. After the battle Saul admits he misjudged her and makes Panam co-leader of the clan at his side. When a Relic attack knocks V out, Panam cares for V in her tent and promises that the whole family will help whenever V needs it.

Personality
Panam is proud, hot-tempered and fiercely loyal. She acts first and thinks later, which makes her a good fighter and a poor follower. She speaks her mind to everyone, Saul included, and she holds grudges against anyone who lets her down. Under the anger she cares deeply about her family and grieves hard for the friends she loses. Her text messages show how unsure she is about her life after she leaves the clan.
Relationships
Saul Bright is the leader she argues with and later rules beside. Mitch Anderson is her closest friend and the clan's mechanic, and Scorpion was a friend whose death hits her hard. Cassidy Righter is protective of her, and Carol Emeka stands with her during the Basilisk raid. Rogue is the fixer she worked for in the city, and the two mostly stay out of each other's way. Nash and the Raffen Shiv are her enemies.
Romance
Panam can only be romanced by a V with a male body. Flirting begins at the Sunset Motel at the end of Ghost Town and in the farmhouse in Riders on the Storm. The romance itself happens in Queen of the Highway, when Panam and V share the neural link of the Basilisk and V returns her advances. Before that, Life During Wartime, Riders on the Storm and With a Little Help from My Friends have to be done, and V must not tell Saul about the convoy raid.
A romanced Panam stays in touch with messages and waits for V's call at the end of the story. Of all the romance options, she is the only one who can also be asked to help in the final assault on Arasaka Tower.
Jobs
Panam's story starts in the main jobs Ghost Town, Lightning Breaks and Life During Wartime, where she helps V catch Anders Hellman. Her side jobs Riders on the Storm, With a Little Help from My Friends and Queen of the Highway follow. With her help, We Gotta Live Together and Forward to Death lead to the Aldecaldos ending.

Endings
If V asks the Aldecaldos for help in Nocturne Op55N1, Panam leads the clan into Night City. They drive the Basilisk and other armoured vehicles to Arasaka Tower and fight a way inside for V. In The Star ending, V leaves Night City with the Aldecaldos, and a romanced Panam rides beside V into a new life beyond the border.
If Panam was not romanced, her message at the end of the other endings sends news from the Badlands and thanks V for everything. If V calls her from the Arasaka Orbital Station, a romanced Panam is shaken by the news, while an unromanced Panam simply tells V to come home.
Notes
Panam's truck, the Thorton Mackinaw Warhorse, can be won back from Nash in Ghost Town. At the end of Riders on the Storm she gives V her rifle, Overwatch.
Leaving the Wraith camp during Riders on the Storm for too long fails the job, and Panam reports that Saul is dead. Her later side jobs are then lost.
