The Gift is a short side job from the prologue that teaches quickhacking and breaching. Towards the end of The Rescue, T-Bug calls V with a present: a Ping quickhack, left for V with Yoko at a netrunner shop in Kabuki, Watson. Picking it up and trying it out on a training access point finishes the job.
Story
A Present from T-Bug
Johnny is amused in the journal. T-Bug is probably the last person anyone would expect to hand out presents. She is not the type to buy novelty coffee mugs or T-shirts of someone's favourite comic book hero. But a netrunner program, for V, for the job? She must really like V.
The shop is the Dewdrop Inn by the Kabuki Roundabout. V can head there alone, or Dex drops V nearby at the end of The Ride. At the front desk, Yoko hands over the gift. Even if V uses a different cyberdeck, V can still claim to have a Militech Paraline.
