The Mox are the youngest established gang in Night City, a small self-defence gang based at Lizzie's Bar in Kabuki. They are outcasts of every kind: current and former sex workers, punks, anarchists, freaks and sexual minorities. Their name comes from the old slang word moxie, the nerve to stand up to those who oppress them. Their style is aggressive kitsch, all loud colours, plastic and latex.
History
Lizzie Borden
The Mox were born in the riots that followed the death of Lizzie Borden. Lizzie was a former sex worker who ran a strip club and was known for treating her workers fairly and defending them from violent clients. When Tyger Claws gangers raped and murdered one of her girls, she killed three of them with an axe and put their bodies on show in front of her club, warning that the same would happen to anyone who tried it again.
The Riots
The Tyger Claws wrecked her club and killed her that same night. Her death set off riots all over Night City that lasted for days, with the Claws and their businesses as the main targets. Lizzie became a symbol of defiance against the cruelty of the gangs. Her followers rebuilt the club as Lizzie's Bar and formed the Mox, and the protests drew many others to the gang for years after.
Hard Times
Over the years the Mox turned Lizzie's Bar into an exclusive braindance club and launched their own clothing brand, BITCH V.13. Under their current leader, Susie Q, the gang has grown harder. It has accepted that it cannot protect every sex worker in Night City, only those who work for it directly. As the gang grows more cynical, some members fear it is becoming the very kind of oppressor it was founded to fight.

Way of Life
The Mox mix punk style with the cheap fashion of the street, but in clothes that never slow them down, so they look more like gangers than sex workers. Fighters often have heavily modified bodies with a plastic doll look, which they can hide under artificial skin. Their symbol is a double-headed axe, the labrys, seen on walls, clothes, tattoos and jewellery, alongside the gang's name written in calligraphy.
The gang has no strict ranks. Most members carry bats and clubs, and the fighters often use guns taken from fallen Tyger Claws. Optical camouflage, cooling systems and cybernetic limbs are among the implants they favour.
Business
The Mox call themselves the protectors of working girls and guys, but they still charge a hefty fee for that protection. They run a few small brothels and clinics. Most of their money comes from Lizzie's Bar, the braindance club that serves as their headquarters.
The gang holds no turf of its own. It guards its clubs, its members and the sex workers around them, and it leaves other gangs alone as long as it is left alone. Relations with the Tyger Claws stay tense, because the Claws keep testing the Mox's patience.

Notes
The Mox are a self-defence gang more than a criminal one, and they rarely attack anyone who leaves them alone.
