Ex-Factor is the side job in which Judy Álvarez starts her plan to take Clouds from the Tyger Claws, after the loss of Evelyn Parker. It follows Both Sides, Now, with a call from Judy. She and V break into the office of Maiko Maeda, the manager of Clouds and Judy's former lover, on the 12th floor of Megabuilding H8 in Japantown. V may also get the chance to settle the score with Woodman.

Story

The Same River

The journal quotes an old saying: no man ever steps in the same river twice. Johnny does not know who said it, but thinks he was smart. There are plenty of other places to explore, and plenty of other dollhouses. He wonders what this one has that the others do not.

A few days after Evelyn's death, Judy calls with a plan for revenge. Lizzie's Bar was once a brothel before the Mox took it over, and she wants to do the same with Clouds. If V agrees to help, she explains that first they must win over Maiko Maeda. Without her, they might as well give up. They meet on the balcony above Clouds early in the morning.

Maiko

Judy asks V to let her do the talking, as she knows Maiko better. She plans to tell Maiko the truth about what happened to Evelyn. Inside the office, they explain their plan to take over Clouds from within and tell Maiko what Woodman did to Evelyn. Still, they cannot win her over.

If Woodman survived Automatic Love and V let Judy lead the talk, Maiko mentions that Woodman is taking a break on the maintenance level, in case they want to "talk" to him. Judy and V can go down and confront him. He shows no regret for what he did, and the two kill him.

Judy's Past

Outside, V can ask whether Maiko and Judy have a history. Judy says they were once together, but mostly because Judy was lonely. In the lift down, Judy says she will recruit some former dolls of Clouds and gather more information to win Maiko over. She promises to call when she knows more, and drives off.

Choices

Helping Judy

Refusing to help ends Judy's storyline, and with it the chance of a romance. A feminine V aiming for the romance must agree.

Woodman

If Woodman lived through Automatic Love, he can be confronted and killed here, or Judy can be talked out of it. If he was killed in Automatic Love, avoid answers that turn the talk with Maiko sour, and leave with Judy.

Rewards

Completing Ex-Factor pays 578 experience and 866 Street Cred. It also rewards Death and Taxes (missable).

The Iconic power pistol Death and Taxes lies on a sofa in Maiko's office. The job pays eddies, experience and Street Cred.
