Where the Bodies Hit the Floor is a cyberpsycho sighting for Regina Jones in Northside, Watson, in the alleys by the Totentanz club. Those who wander down the wrong alley there lose their heads. The cyberpsycho is Ellis Carter, a loyal friend of Brick, the Maelstrom boss Royce overthrew. Royce's people stripped his chrome, beat him until he could no longer speak, and kept him as a guard dog.
Story
Few Certainties
The journal lists the few certainties of Night City: street food that melts the stomach, politicians on corporate leashes, and the screams that echo from the Totentanz. And one more: step down the wrong alley, and a head will probably roll out the other end.
Brick and Ellis
A shard records Ellis' last talk with Brick. Ellis had a bad feeling that Royce was coming for Brick, with the people to back him. Brick was sure of it, called himself a walking corpse, and told Ellis to run while he could. Ellis was furious. He would not roll over, and he would never work for Royce. He refused to let Royce get away with it.
Brick's Pet
Another shard shows what Royce did to him. Two Maelstrom members, Hoof and Sanders, argue over whose turn it is to clean up after "Brick's pet". They made a rabid dog out of him to show what happens to anyone who stands up to Royce. They stripped out his old chrome and beat his face to a pulp. Now he cannot talk, only howl, and they use him to deal with problem customers, then mop up the bloody pieces he leaves behind.
