Trauma Team International is a corporation that sells rapid response medical rescue in all the world's great cities. It is the most famous paramedic service in the world and may be the only corporation that enjoys real public trust. It does not play politics and does not ask questions: as long as its clients pay, their lives are safe in its hands, however dire the situation. Its armoured AVs arrive within minutes for anyone with a paid-up membership.
History
The Founding
Trauma Team was founded in Seattle. As violence and crime grew across the United States, it quickly became one of the most powerful corporations in America. It later spread to Canada, Europe and Japan, and it runs a large hospital in Night City.
The War
During the war between Arasaka and Militech, the company was stretched to its limit. To keep its neutrality and its caseload down, it refused to answer calls from either corporation. It answered only civilians and charged a combat rate if anyone fired a gun nearby. In North America it survived the war only as a set of regional services, short of parts, medicine and trained staff. The endless street battles forced its teams to trade their old uniforms for military helmets and heavy armour.
Today
In the years before the game, Trauma Team rebuilt and recovered much of what it lost. As crime rose, it raised its prices and armed its teams more heavily than ever. Its AVs are built by Zetatech, and Kang Tao supplies the weapons every team carries.
Way of Life
Each team flies in a heavily armoured AV that carries the best life support the company has. When a client is in trouble, the AV comes down from the sky, its machine gun turrets clear away the attackers, and medics revive and stabilise the patient. The teams have no duty to take anyone to a hospital, and they bill from the moment the call comes in, including the ammunition and fuel they use.
Most clients get the service through their employer's insurance or pay a monthly fee, and the most expensive plans promise the fastest arrival and a corporate hospital at the end. Big corporations such as Arasaka, Militech and Biotechnica give some of their staff memberships. Trauma Team rarely goes into Dogtown, where almost no one can pay.
