Laurel Circlet is head armour for front-line vocations such as the Fighter and the Warrior. It is a circlet of metal leaves that is said to sharpen the wearer's concentration.

It is a reward for Put a Spring in Thy Step, Gautstafr's side quest on Agamen Volcanic Island. The same quest unlocks the Magick Archer vocation.

How to Get Laurel Circlet

  • Meet Gautstafr on the road west of the Volcanic Island Camp and bring him three wildflowers.
  • Escort him from Windwalker's Home to the hot spring at Geyser Hamlet.
  • Complete the quest at the spring to receive the circlet.

Laurel Circlet is sold for 26,000 G.

Laurel Circlet Map Location and Quest Guide

Put a Spring in Thy Step is a side quest given by Gautstafr on Agamen Volcanic Island. It starts on meeting Gautstafr, groaning with an aching back, on the road west of the Volcanic Island Camp. The Laurel Circlet is part of the reward at the end of the quest.

  1. Speak to Gautstafr and agree to bring him three wildflowers for his back. Morningtide, Syrupwort Leaf, Pitywort, Grandpetal and Goldthistle all count.
  2. Hand Gautstafr the wildflowers. He asks for a visit to his house, Windwalker's Home, for a reward.
  3. Follow him to Windwalker's Home and meet his wife, Cliodhna. The Newt Liqueur on the table inside is needed for The Sotted Sage.
  4. Speak to Gautstafr when he hurts his back again while fetching the reward. Choose "Offer to escort him" to take him to the hot spring at Geyser Hamlet.
  5. Escort Gautstafr towards Geyser Hamlet. He walks slowly, so guard him from the Magma Scales, Hobgoblins and Stone Golem along the route. Carry him if needed, and set him down whenever enemies need dealing with.
  6. Pass through the Volcanic Island Camp and take the tunnel with scaffolding at the top of the camp to reach Geyser Hamlet.
  7. Meet Cliodhna at the spring, where she reveals she followed along. She offers her teaching as a Maister, which completes the quest, unlocks the Magick Archer vocation and opens Gautstafr's smithing at Windwalker's Home.
  8. Speak to Cliodhna again to receive Spellbow's Paradox, which teaches the Martyr's Bolt skill.

Rewards: 4,800 XP, 23,000 G, Laurel Circlet and the Magick Archer vocation.

Smithing Upgrade Guide

Every piece of armour can be enhanced three times at an armoury or smithy, each time for gold and the materials listed below, and a fourth time with Wyrmfire. Any armoury or smithy works on weapons and armour alike. Each smith works in one style, and you can mix styles from one level to the next.

  • Vermundian raises every attribute moderately. Armouries and smithies in Vermund offer it, such as Roderick's Smithy and Bjorn's Armory in Vernworth.
  • Elven raises Magick and Magick Defense greatly, Strength and Defense only a little. Grisha's Armory in Sacred Arbor offers it.
  • Battahli raises Strength and Defense greatly, Magick and Magick Defense only a little. Armouries in Battahl offer it, such as Awaran's Arms and Bodas's Armory in Bakbattahl.
  • Dwarven raises Knockdown Power and Knockdown Resistance. Sara at Brokkr's Smithy offers it after Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, and Gautstafr after Put a Spring in Thy Step.
  • Wyrmfire halves the weight and gives a further boost once the first three enhancements are done. The Dragonforged at Bay Wayside Shrine takes payment in Wyrmslife Crystals instead of gold.

Taking Laurel Circlet to level 3 costs 10,920 G in all, whichever style you choose. Battahli smithing gives it the most Defense at level 3 (91), while Dwarven gives the most Knockdown Resistance (55). Wyrmfire then costs 5 Wyrmslife Crystals.
