Waterfall Cave is a large cavern behind the Ultramarine Waterfall in Vermund, north-east of the Borderwatch Outpost. At the start of the journey its entrance is blocked by the body of the Griffin from the opening events, but the way in clears later on. A Chimera prowls its depths, and an alchemy room upstairs holds a hoard of grimoires.

Waterfall Cave Quests

The cave is a stop for both Spellbound and The Sorcerer's Appraisal, since the grimoires Howling Blizzard and Nation's Death Knell sit in a chest in its alchemy room. Opening that chest calls up a Wight.

Feast of Deception changes the cave's master: once that quest is complete, a Gorechimera takes the place of the Chimera.

What's Inside Waterfall Cave

The cave can be entered from more than one side and spreads across a lower and an upper floor. Saurians wait near the entrance, slimes lurk further in, and the Chimera keeps its lair deeper inside. A cavern full of skeletons guards a chest of gold, and climbing the ledges beyond leads to the upper floor and the alchemy room, where the grimoires Fulgurous Lord, Winter's Path and Threshing Blaze lie around the worktables. A ladder past the alchemy room can be dropped to make a quick way back down.

Chests across the cave hold the Peltflayers, a Ferrystone and a Wakestone, and Onyx can be found as well. Seeker's Tokens are hidden inside, along with a Stability Extract, Lantern Oil, a Detoxifying Decoction and Dried Fish. Pitywort grows in the tunnels, Shorefish swim in the water, and Copper Ore, Silver Ore and Gold Ore can be mined from the walls.
