The Ash of War: Blood Blade is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Blood affinity and the Blood Blade skill. It is a mid-game find in the Altus Plateau.
Blood Blade has the wielder cut a hand to coat the weapon in blood, then slash to fire a blade-shaped blood projectile that builds up hemorrhage. Further inputs keep slashing side to side, firing a new projectile with each swing at a low FP cost. The projectile's damage and bleed scale with Arcane, and the melee slash also applies the weapon's own status build-up. It suits Arcane bleed builds using small and medium swords.
Stats
It grants the Blood affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Poison or Occult. The skill costs 3 FP. It fits Dagger, Throwing Blade, Straight Sword, Light Greatsword, Thrusting Sword, Curved Sword, Backhand Blade, Katana and Twinblade.

Ash of War: Blood Blade drops from a Teardrop Scarab flying above a pond in the Altus Plateau, east of the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace and south of the entrance to the Old Altus Tunnel.

Skill
Only the first slash of a chain costs HP, so it is best to commit to several casts in a row. The projectiles have short range, and at close range both the slash and the projectile can hit the same target for extra bleed. Avoid casting it at long range where the projectile falls short.
